The use of 2 or more anti-virus programs at the same time can cause major conflicts. The 2 scanning engines will fight each other to scan every file that you read, write or execute which can cause a major computer slowdown. For the same reason, using 2 A-Vs can cause you to have less protection from the various malware, not more.
(Using an anti-spyware with an anti-virus is good, however and is recommended)
You might consider choosing just one A-V and removing any others.

Yes, but I wouldn't. Go to www.avast.com and download the free version. It's much better than either of these and free! It takes a little looking to find it, but stick with it and download it.
McAfee sucks, and Norton is good, but it will slow down your computer. Avast rocks!
I've heard AVG is good, too. But that wasn't my experience. AVG took forever to download (I had dial-up at the time), and Avast was doable. AVG made my computer crash a lot. Avast hasn't ever.

Dump the Norton Bloatware; get lightweight freeware to do the same thing. Most commercial suites like Norton & Mcaffee 'hook' the kernel which slows down the system & creates many configuration issues.
Avg, Avast! are fine; I choose 'blink' for it's 'buffer over run' protection.

It should be one anti virus, two of them will conflict with each others and slow down your computer, UN install McAfee and when you buy it install it again, This is one for free and it is good.

Simply : do not run 2 programs that are antivirus. That is not required and even harmful. You can run one antivirus and one anti-malware/spyware/etc program though.
