Okay, today i was using my computer. But all of a sudden, it turned off on me & afterwards it wouldn't turn back on!!! The little green LED light is on, but my computer won't turn on. Also, lately my computer has been turning off on me & the screen would go blank, but the tower would stay on & make some sort of weird beeping noise. Then later on, i would turn it on like normal again & it keeps on happening, the reason i'm saying this is because i think this maybe the reason why its acting strange. Another thing is, i was told that my computers fan maybe the problem to my dilemna. Or maybe its the power supply.

What does it actually enable you to do if you have people in contacts? Is it only to view each others Q & A's? Can you chat between the 2 of you?

The problem is that when i boot my pc,during startup,it shows that theres 2 operating systems,as if i have,say,win2000 and XP but they are both XP.And its not as if it was installed on a separate partition because i already went that route,no partitions.Whats more, when i boot up my machine and the screen that comes up that gives me the option to choose what OS i want to use,i have to arrow down to the version of XP that works. If not, after 30 seconds it tries to boot into the corrupt XP.I did change the countdown from 30 to 999 seconds but that doesnt help my cause much,it only buys me a little time to arrow down.So i have to sit through the whole startup procedure and basically baby sit so it boots the right way.Thats really annoying, especially for me because i do a lot of downloading and installing and what not that requires reboots.I like to be able to click restart and walk away for 10 or 15 minutes without worrying about my computer trying to boot into a nonexistant version of XP.

email so that I will always have it. But when I try to pull it up because I don't have Word it's coming up as Word pad document and the resume looks different in font size kinda small. If I email it from my computer to someone else will they receive it in the size of the Word pad document or like regular Word?

I am looking for a number of servers (say 40 dedicated machines) each with their own IP, not in the same IP address range, spread around the world. It can be Linux of windows PCs. Does anyone know of a good solution or service for this? I have looked into EC2 from Amazon but they do not have the support I need. Idea?

I am trying to determine the technical differences between the two computers, that makes it possible to natively load the Mac OS X on the Intel Mac, but not on the Intel PC (such as a Dell); and yet both computers can natively load Windows Vista.

What I am getting at is:

If the technical difference is in the chip itself, would the Intel chip that is made for the Mac work in the Intel Dual Core PC, and natively operate Mac OS X on the PC?

If the technical difference is another form of hardware that exists in both the Mac and the PC, what is it, and is it transplantable from the Mac to the PC, or, can that hardware be reconfigured in the PC to "convert" the PC into a Mac?

The reason why I am asking these questions is because I have a Sony Vaio UX Micro PC that I would love to convert into a Mac.

I just bought a laptop (HP pav dv6000), and it is wi-fi enabled.
Can someone explain to me how to connect my desktop DSL (2wire ethernet) to my laptop?
I remember the cable guy saying that if i got a laptop in the future I could hook it up thru the DSL... but I have no idea how to do that.
I want to use my laptop wireless at home (not stealing my neighbor's). I looked online but what is a router exactly?
is it one of those USB's that people have in their laptop?
Please please please be specific I'm very clueless about this wi-fi technology. THANKS!

I ask this question as it's only been a few years that I have been on the internet. My sole reason was that a friend of mine was downloading movies for his personal viewing and as I prefer a good film to most things on tv, I thought I would try it myself. People are of the belief that people like me are getting something for free, but in essence, were not. The computer itself cost a small fortune, then I bought a dvd drive for it, I have also spent a fortune on discs, paper, cases and various other things, and then finally I pay a small fortune a month for the broadband. If I couldn't download this type of thing then I would just get rid of everything, which includes the phone (it would work out cheaper for me on pay as you go mobile). By the way, I still go to the movies to watch certain movies, just as much as I used to. My belief is that if people like myself were stopped from doing this, it would cost millions to everyone concerned with computers, software and internet providing.
