I can preview the screensaver, but it won't come on when the computer is left idle.

make sure that the time limit is on and when you are finished make sure you click apply

What did you set your power settings to? You may have them so the display never shuts down or shuts down at the same time the computer goes into hibernate. Start / Control Panel / Power Options or go from Display. For testing, set the Display time to a minute and the blackout (Turn off Monitor) to 20 minutes or more.

go to control panel/display /screensaver/ choose your slide show and then set the Idle time for it to start and click apply.

If you have your pictures set as slide show screen saver won't run that it only runs your pictures as individuals. I have it set on my computer and the screen saver runs my pictures, my front yard, my cat.

Probably is a shareware version what you have and works only like that, when you "buy it" or "crack it" then will become "full functional".
