Most pages are saved in your temporary Internet folder.
Try this old trick sometime.
with your browser select file /work offline.
You can do this connected to the internet or not.
Then run through your history and see if they come up.
Don't forget later to select file/work offline to take the check mark off.

Do this , Hit your CTRL key and your H (CTRL-H) it will bring up your history of everywhere you have been on the internet , Delete everything then empty your cookies and your temporary internet files , This will erase your surfing history !

The only ones who would be able to find anything on your hard drive will be Computer Tech's looking to fix a problem or Forensic Cops who would only be looking for criminal activity and that would be only after you are already busted

The only way to effectively get rid of information permanently
is to destroy your hard drive by busting up into little pieces !

Elements of it are stored in temporary Internet files usually in the Windows directory or under your personal settings directory where your cookies are stored. It is not stored in your cookies folder though that is for other information like your preferences on the site and your user name and password.

The idea is that when you return to that page it will take less time to load up, so part of it is stored on your computer in case you do return.

Every site that you visit is stored in your History files.

Press Ctrl H and it'll bring up your History files. Delete whatever you like.

Every place you visited for the number of days your history is set to, will be there.

There is permanent forensic evidence of everything you do on your computer.

Some information can be recovered and some can't. I am personally amused and relieved that this can be used in criminal prosecutions. There's not a pedophile out there without child porn on his computer and a lot of people that commit violent crimes have evidence of preparation to do so on their computer. Love it!
