I have a few questions to ask because I don't know who right or wrong

1. My friend told me it cost a lot of money leaving your computer over night but my uncle said it only cost like 12 cents for 3-4 hours with the monitor off.

2. some people said leaving computer on is much better because the computer running at it pace saying it badder for the computer to be turn off and on. Others said it will over heat and the fan will die out and make the computer run slower.

3. They said virus and hackers can get in overnight though my friend told me if I had a firewall, spyware protection, virus protection and maybe a router that has a password lock on their no way a virus can leak in.

So who right and who wrong?

I just saw on the internet today that you can get sefari for Windows Computers, which i'm using now and really enjoy. Do you think we should have the option to have Mac OS as our OS on a windows based computer?

how do i open an "iso" file ?

i have an iso file that is 600 mb big but how do i open it to install the program that i have or do i have to burn it all to dvd or summin

I downloaded some old radio episode files to a folder in My Documents. But when I tried to transfer them to Windows Media Player to burn them to a blank CD, WMP said it cannot handle this kind of file [Real Player].
I can't use Real Player to burn the episodes to a blank CD, because to create an MP3 disk with Real Player I would have to have the paid-for version of Real Player, and I only have the free version.
So how can I convert these Real Player old radio episodes to Windows Media Player? Or is it possible to download the old radio programmes from the Internet again but save them into Windows Media Player?
I have not explained this very clearly, but anyone who knows what I need to do will understand my question. The rest won't!

when I am connected to the net, and type ipconfig in command prompt, or I check my local area connection status, I get a certain IP address that I assumed is assigned by DHCP. But when I check a site like whatismyip.com. I get a whole different IP address that I can't seem to get anywhere else in my computer. What is up with that.

I am trying to send an email to all of the employees of a business, so I set all of their addresses into a group. However, I would like to suppress the members of the group so that each recipient only sees themselves as being the recipient. I've downloaded an ISO file in zip with an ms document? How should I burn it into a CD using Nero 6? Should I extract the files first or no? Again, the ISO file is zipped which the zip itself is ISO.

It seems like there are so many options. I'm interested in troubleshooting and understanding how a computer works. I'd like to be able to fix computers for people and install computer related things, etc. If anyone has any experience with anything like this, or knows of a college major that incorporates this, please help me out, thanks.

I have sound on everything else, but not on the tour. and how do i sign in to gmail anwer boards so I can post these question there and in gmail, can I add animated pictures and picture within my text to make it cuter and funny ? I have a friend who emails me from earthlink and she can do it. When i plug something into my USB port my computer recognizes it and i can see it on my device manager which tells me the item is working fine but when i go to take photos from my camera or put songs onto an mp3 player the hardware is nowhere to be seen. yes i have a slow computer its pretty slow when i play games
for example when i play games it took like about 10 mins to finish loading the game i have like 384MB of RAM and 23 GB free space. pls help

i would typically consider myself very computer savvy(well xp anyway) but i want to delete some of vista's preloaded programs such as movie maker and msn explorer and it keeps saying i need permission and i am the admin. already and there not listed under the control panel to add/remove programs...an help would be greatly appreciated...thanx

i am tring to burn a dvd, i downloaded this dvd. my dvd player will play a dvd +r dvd, that is what i am using, i can not get the dvd that i burned to play in my dvd player only in my computer is it possible that i am buringing it with the wrong burning option? i have nero premium 7 and i click on make your own dvd and put my file there is this right?

I have something that keeps creeping up on my PC. I have no idea what it is or how I am coming in contact with it. Whatever it is, it completely slows my computer down. I can't even play a CD without it sounding glitchy. The only way I know to get rid of this is to keep reformatting my computer and that is getting very old. I have Norton anti virius, but whatever this is, it bypasses my norton and eats my computer alive. Please help.
