have you looked for the device in your 'my computer'?

It should be there as another drive, like F: drive for example. you can open it from there and cut/paste/copy like any other file.

As for putting music on your Mp3 player, i know that if you sare using windows media player, you need to download a driver for MP so it will recognise it. You should look on the website of your player if this is your problem.

As for the camera, you might need software for that too if not already. your camera maker will have free software for you on their website too.

If your computer recognises the devices then your USB is probably working properly.

Hello,

(ANS) This is a common problem which happens when the USB port is the wrong version for the device you are trying to use. There are x2 types of USB ports version 1 USB ports & version 2 USB ports. The difference between type 1 & type 2 is bandwidth or data transfer speed.

**Common problems happen when you plug in a high speed device like a camera, mp3 player or scanner into an older type 1 USB port.

**Check your camera is USB type 2 and that your computers USB ports are also type 2.

**If you plug in a slower older device into a high speed USB 2 port it will still work but more slowly.

**Your problem sounds like a combination of USB device driver, (note: make sure the windows USB device drivers, the files that are found in windows\system32 folder such as usb.sys are digitally signed as this is very important otherwise you can have problems.) and the camera software.

I have this problem with my mp3 player sometimes, i just keep putting it in until it finally picks it up on my computer. If it still does not work your driver for your usb port may be corrupted, if that is the cause you may want to go to your support website of the manufacturer of the computer and email them your problem and they should send you a reply with how to fix it. Sorry im not any more help.

If you have other devices plugged into other ports they may be drawing all the available current. Generally only 500mA is available for a group of USB devices. Modems can hog all of this with just the results you describe. Try only plugging the one device in at a time, if this works then think about a powered hub for the power hogs

Perhaps your camera or MP3 needs software?

Is your copy of windows up to date?
Check by running windows update from the start menu.
