this is an avi file, i hae a codec, i know for sure that my dvd player will play this type (brand) of dvd's and i also know for sure that it will play r+ im asking about the actual option to press when burning from nero, like burn you own dvd, or encode you dvd

you may have an older dvd player that does not recognize dvd+r format. try using dvd-r

are you burning a iso of a dvd you downloaded or is it a avi or mpg file if its a correct iso you are burning when you open the disc with your computer it should have a folder in the root directory called audio_ts and video_ts if it does and it dosnt work in your dvd play check to make sure your dvd player plays copyed dvd's some dont also try different brands of dvd-r's some players like some brands better good luck

I think the first answerer is right.

Some of the oldest DVD players would play only manufactured discs, and a player I bought just a few days ago will play (in addition to manufactured discs) only burned CDs in CD-Digital Audio format and DVD-Rs (and perhaps DVD-RWs, but not +Rs or +RWs).

It may not prove helpful, but you might want to check the manufacturer's website to see if the maker of the player (or even the burner) has issued any firmware updates.

And something that sometimes helps is to burn a disc at a lower speed.

Good luck.
