I'm struggling with an old compaq with windows 98 and am missing out on a lot of videos. I'm hoping to find something that won't be obsolete 2 days after it's installed. Help please.

I would go with a dual core cpu, at least 1 gig of ram, good graphics card and a hard drive of at least 100 gig. A dual layer dvd r/w is also great for backups.

You are running a 9 year old operating system on an old underpowered computer. A new one will probably cost you less than you paid for your Compaq.

98 should have no problem. Probably is your processor and/or memory. Not enough or not fast enough. Plus pretty much every computer system is obsolete after is is bought by a person. LOL!
