We all save "FAVORITES". I am no different. What does worry me is that should my computer go down and everything is erased I would like to be able to know that my "FAVORITES" are stored either on a disc of some type, or saved to an email address.

I have used a PC all my life and i have been checking out the Macs, i really like them now, is it true that they don't crash, get virus, stuff-up in any way? Is it worth buying one? The main uses for a computer for me is videos, music, internet, MSN, and studying. Do the Mac books have a X16 DVD drive or whatever the fastest is right now?

I have dual operation systems, 2000 & XP. Until 2 days ago I could access the internet on both, but primarily used XP. Now I can access the internet with XP, for some reason it is not connecting with my modem. I have DSL if that makes a difference. Do you know what could be wrong, and how I can fix it?

I was at a friends house, and we made a funny video. I was trying to get it to my own computer with my flash drive, but before i left his house, the video automatically compressed itself. We did this on Windows Movie Maker. I also have this program. I tried running it on this as well as Windows Media Player. Neither will work because of the compression. Any tips on how to get it to work, or any good uncompression tools? Thanks in advance.

I am trying to determine what ports are opened on another computer from this computer, but any port sniffer I download only tells me what ports are opened on THIS computer. So is there any port sniffer I can download where I can enter the IP of another computer and it will tell me what ports are opened on that computer, or is there another way to tell what ports are opened on it, i.e. typing the IP along with a command into a command prompt? What command would I type into the command prompt? Or is there any other way to determine what ports are opened on another computer if I have its IP? How?

I need a simple way to generate a list of file in a folder (and subfolder) in a linux shell.
I am using
dir -1 -R > filelist.txt
but it only give me the file names in each folder,
.folder1:
file1.txt
file2.txt
I need the full path to the files like
folder1/file1.txt
folder1/file1.txt
folder1/subfolder2/file3.txt

I must be missing something simple.
Thanks for any help.

Hello All,

I have a problem with my computer that has plagued me for the last few months, I hope you can help. The most helpful answer gets the points.

I am running Windows Xp Sp2 (borrowed) on approx 3.5 to 4 ghz Pentium chip.
Whenever I perform the following tasks, my computer stops and shuts down (separate occasions, not all at once):

- watching youtube videos (or any videos online) consecutively in a row (4-5 videos max)
- running a virus scan on my entire computer
- ripping dvds
- multiple (on hd) videos playing at once using different video players
- using an external usb device (midi keyboard) to make beats on Reason 3

After the first shut down, I will attempt to start up again, upon which the computer shuts down almost automatically (during the start up screen). Just before the 2nd shutdown, a black screen shows stating “We apologize for the inconvenience, but Windows did not start up properly…” I select to have windows start normally only to have it shut down
