Well I would say 1 for every 3 people that use computers, then go up as needed. That also means you need a router and high speed internet to connect them all to one internet connection.

Should? As to mean it would be bad if someone had more than they "should"?. What country do you live in?

"Can"... well they _can_ have as many as they can afford to buy and pay the electricity for. Realistically though, if everyone had to use a computer at the same time then you'd need one for every person in the house. However, that is usually not the case and people share a computer. Once the sharing becomes an issue (to much usage for 1 computer) then another computer would be needed.

That depends how many people live in the house..We are 6 and have 5 computers networked. We only need 2.But with 4 kids it makes life easier.I believe in today's Internet Savoy world you need a back up.If your main computer goes down you still could get on line to take care of things with the back up.

We have 2 (one for me, one for spouse), so we can each use one without bugging the other...aside from simultaneous usage, I maintain both as "mirror images". That has helped at least twice, as I had to rebuild my HP twice this year, once when its memory card burned out and once when it overheated, so I was able to use data and software stored on the other to rebuild the HP! An extra form of backup beyond the usual external drives and CDs.

Depends upon the household. My husband and I both work in computers. I have two computers (soon to be three) and he has four. On the other hand, we only have one TV in the house. My sister, by comparison, has two kids and four people in her household. They have one computer and four TVs. My mother-in-law and her husband have two computers and three TVs. So it all really depends upon your individual household.
