I was thinking of buying an Alienware, but someone told me they weren't really as good as the hype makes me believe. So... what do you think the best brand of computer is? Why?

The only way you will be completely satisfied is if you do your own research and decide what your needs and wants are. Every manufacturer uses parts from different suppliers and the whole is only as good as its parts. Also each company has its ups and downs, ins' and outs. Best advice I can give would be to buy direct from the maker and if you are not technically inclined buy a good on site service plan.

Hope this Helps Good Luck and God Bless.

Since you have enough money to buy a Alienware computer, you should probably get a Sony Vaio labtop. They have very good onces that are about 900 to 1000 with everything upgraded. or if you want a desktop, you can get a Dell because their service is great. Or a Mac, they look good and they have very good performance. Also they can't really get many viruses.

I prefer Hewlett Packard. They last a long time and have pretty good prices and instant rebates. I actually just got a new HP about 1 month ago and I really like it, plus my mom has had one for about 6 years. They have a nice look and a lot of space for extra hardware depending on the model you get. It is all up to you.

For the average user, as a repair tech, I am happiest when I see an HP come in the shop! I know it will be a matter of minutes to fix most of them. They have excellent tech support and very easy for the layperson to restore to factory. If you want a gamer tho, make sure you configure it with a hi end video card and lots of ram. Dell? Dont make me laff!

In my opinion Dell is best. I own two (daughter has it) and there have been very few problems ever. Their support is excellent and I also like the additional warranty I purchased. I think they are a good product.
