i have a problem with a corrupted registry.windows wont boot, its gets as far as the login screen and throws up some error about insufficient memory.i cant boot in safe mode or last known good configuration. ang just to make the problem worse....i have no xp disk!!! ive tried holding down f9 and f10 keys during boot up to enter recovery mode but to no avail. any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

Unfortunately I had a similar situation where after an error check on the log in screen a message would tell me i had insufficient memory. I turned the computer off and left it for 30 mins and it has been OK ever since.

I think you should take it to a place like PC Wolrd, say you bought it from there, and see what the problem is and see how expensive it will be!

Have you also tried the other Safe Boot options:

-Safe Mode with Command Prompt only
-Last Good Configuration that worked

The Page File error you describe is interesting. I don't think the Paging File System should be causing any errors. All the Paging File is, is a virtual extension of your physical RAM. But since you have 512MB of DDR RAM, lack of memory shouldn't be an error.

Did you recently make any changes to your hardware config? Or have you recently tried to change the default BOOT.INI file? Either might cause bootup issues.
