Both places were a cable connection. I thought it depended on what ethernet card you had, but apparently not, since I have had the same card and it has said different things.

im going to install a new hdd in my computer. I know how to do it, and have done it before. but this time since im doing it at home i dont have access to any anti-static equipment. Obviously step one to avoiding frying ur circuits is :DONT TOUCH ANYTHING. I just wanna know what other precautions i should take. what surfaces to do it on, what kinda weather... stuff like that

I just got GPS and I'm not sure how it works. It's from the states but I live in Romania so when I travel around Europe the streets aren't on there, just the country borders.

Alright, heres the dl. We have dial-up as our internet connection and yes it sucks, but i can live with it. First, I always open up the mozilla firefox server b4 connecting to the internet. But the problem is that after connecting to the internet and trying to go directly to some website it will just "time out". However, if we open the homepage up first after connecting then it never times out and we can go to other websites as long as the homepage was visited first. Does anyone have any clue as to why it times out when we don't open the homepage first?? I mean the internet is still connected too when it says it is timed out. We used Internet Explorer before I installed Mozilla, and the I.E. would, more often than not, say "Not Responding" after connecting and clicking on anything. However after waiting 5-10 minutes it would start responding and working again. Any thoughts, ideas, resolutions, answers would be appreciated thx

I have a program thats a "nero disk image"... and i have to burn it to be able to run it, so i tried burning it with nero, but it almost 800 MBs. And my cds only hold 700, i tried mounting it with daemon tools but it doesnt do anything afterwards. Is there any way i can burn it to a DVD or something?...

What should i do with it?

ok, so the Geek Squad has this application so you can talk to an agent online. Well, i asked a toatal of FIVE questions. They were simple, yes or no questions. I think that they are overpriced. Because they wanted me to pay $159 for something that was as easy as pressing 5 buttons, i'm not lying. This application was supposed to get you through problems you might have, but instead, they banned me for asking 5 questions. SIMPLE questions too. i wasn't asking for free tech support, just yes or no answers. My question is, do you think they are overpriced? I'm mad that everytime i asked a question, they tried to get me to pay some ridiculous amount of money. The worst part is, I HAD THEM TO MY HOUSE 2 TIMES ALREADY. you think they'd have cheaper serivice...

about every half an hour or so my computer freezes and half the time i have to hard reboot (shut it off by holding the power button)
and log back in and re-do everything again... its driving me nuts, i have a lot of things in my computer and i take things out when they are not used by me or anyone else that uses my computer.
i need help please.

the second problem is that every time i try to run a full-screen game it works for about 5 seconds then it minimizes itself without my help and every time i go to bring it up again it minimizes itself AGAIN and i cant get it to run. just say you need more details about my computer and i will supply them, please helpp!!!

I have a separate folder for my music only. I get my music in many ways through discs,limewire, and torrents. Every time i want to add a new song or a group of songs to I-tunes i have to search the entire folder to add one song. I tried making the folder so it is organized by "Modified" so the newer ones are at the bottom but it doesn't help. Any suggestions?

P.S.- I like keeping it all in one folder and not seperating it into sub folders

My laptop is broken. In order to retrieve a few .wps and .rtf files, I took it to a local repair shop. I told them specifically that these were the only files I wanted.

After a few days, I went back to the store to pick it up. The guy who worked on it then informed me in an offhand manner that he had viewed other, unrelated files on my hard drive, and knew of the contents. Bear in mind that there was no serious financial or personal information involved. However, should I be angry with this?
