I have been trying to burn a CD for days using Media Player and Sonic Now. Both programs tell me there is no CD in the drive and the CD is brand new. My computer is Dell and it is about two years old. I burned a CD just three weeks ago on media player, and now for some unknown reason it will not work. HELP!!!

CD with pic's on it. Do not wish to delete all of the pictures,

My land lady told me to unplug it when its not being used because its called a "sucker" even tho its off its still using like 40% of energy cause its still plugged in. I was just wondering if it does any damage to the computer if I were to unplug it. Thanks!
