Best for the price requires an actual price range. The best camera for US$150 isn't the best camera for US$2,000. (And yes, a professional grade camera with all the add-ons can be *easily* that much or more).

And after you list a price, "best" still needs defining. What do you intend to use it for? Some people want a camera with lots of automatic features to help them (auto-focus, auto-exposure, etc). Some people choose a camera precisely because it *doesn't* have such features (and both forces and allows the photographer to do all the work).

I still use an old Minolta XLR-7 35mm film camera as my main camera, precisely because it *isn't* a "do everything for you" camera. So "best" is highly subjective as well.
