Printers

It's an Epson Stylus CX6600, and the cyan cartridge is empty. The printer prompts to replace the cartridge, but I don't have one. How can I set it so that it works regardless of the empty cartridge? I'm using an iMac OS 10.4, and trying to print with M$ Word (ugh!).

Can anybody recommend from first hand experience a good machine that achieves above average results with below average running costs? It will probably not be used for producing photographic prints.

My last machine was a Canon MP360, and not being chipped, was able to produce perfectly acceptable results using very inexpensive unbranded ink.

When I send a document to print (from any program) the status monitor appears and then nothing happens. Sometimes a message box appears saying 'Alloc size= (random number)' if I click 'okay' it disappears but nothing happens. What is 'Alloc'? What's wrong with the printer? The computer says it's ready to print and the printer's status says 'ready'. The computer's troubleshooter and the manufacturer's troubleshooter can't work it out. The printer is an Epson C86 and was working fine until today. I can't get to the shop to buy a new one until Saturday and am very annoyed. PLEASE HELP!

Hi. I have a Canon Pixma iP3000. Changing from portrait to landscape is easy. The problem is I cannot get back to portrait AND, "have it stay there". Each time I return to print, it has set itself back to landscape & no matter what I do, it just keeps returning to landscape. I have tried everything I can think of to get it to stay on portrait, but without success. It should be simple. BUT. & yes I do press OK after setting the page to portrait.

Don't have much hope, just curious if anyone who has Olivetti (I am sorry I have bought and would never recommend) ever experienced the following:
both cartridges are inside, colour and black, black nearly gone, colour 80% full, but it won't print, says "Colour ink cartrideg is not detected".

Does this mean I have damaged the cartridge? Or the printer?

I know the prices have really come down on these awesome devices, but sometimes I think it's at the cost of the quality. I used to be an Epson girl, but the last one I had was an Epson all in one and it was hands down the worst printer i have ever owned. It would actually LEAK INK! Anyway, I'm looking for something under $100 if possible, no more than $150. TIA!

I have just bought an HP D2630 printer but the USB cable to connect it to my computer was not supplied. What kind of cable do I need to buy? Is it just a standard USB 2.0 cable? Thanks!
