It's an Epson Stylus CX6600, and the cyan cartridge is empty. The printer prompts to replace the cartridge, but I don't have one. How can I set it so that it works regardless of the empty cartridge? I'm using an iMac OS 10.4, and trying to print with M$ Word (ugh!).

it is an epson. you cannot print again until that cartridge is either replaced or the chip is reset. there is no way to 'fool' it.

welcome to the wonderful world of epson :P

There's a good chance that you are stuck having to replace the cartridge even though you aren't trying to print in color.

Having seperate color cartridges is nice though - since you don't have to replace the whole color cartridge when one color runs out.

You might be able to buy a refill kit for it - but results may vary.

File
Print
when the print dialog box displays, look for 'properties,' 'options,' 'advanced,' one of these should be there. click them and look for something like "print black only" or "print in black and white."
then cl o.k.

then o.k. to print

You're lucky if your printer will print. Mine will stop if one of the cartridges is empty.

Well I know in word perfect or windows regardless that when you go to print, in the print dialog box, there is an option called grayscale. That makes it print in black and white only with no colors. That might be able to work if you can find that option on your Mac

Couple of ways, you could take out the color cartridge. Or you could go to properties in your printer settings and select B&W or Greyscale.

When printing, select properties in the printer that you have selected, then select the option B&W. And that's it!
