Ink jet printers "spray" the ink onto the page. Quality varies greatly by machine. Laser printers act like a color copier and use toner, not ink. Laser printers generally print faster and better quality pictures, however they will not print on photo paper and are not a good choice if you want to print photos. Laser printers are usually bulkier than ink jet printers.

It all depends on what you are using it for and how much you use it in one day if it is just going to be used to print one or two things a day get an inkjet because the cartriges are only about 50 dollars for 4 but if you are using it in a home office, school or buisness get a laser because it prints very very fast but the cartriges are around 100 dollars a piece

Laser printers offers a better print result but using toner and it is very expensive to replace. Inkjet using ink and the result is not as sharp or crisp, the ink is much cheaper but has to be replaced more often than toner.

Laser if you've got $$$$ to burn. For home printing go with a good inkjet or PSC. I have an all-in-one (PSC) that does fantasic photo prints with any kind of glossy paper or good with plain, great regular printing, and copying with computer off, just printer on, scans as well with a USB connection.

None is better. It depends on what you need.

Color Inkjet printers and cartridges are cheap and best suited if you are an occasional printer and want to print on photopaper sometimes.

Laserjet printers and their toners, are fast, and best suited if you have a load of pages in black and white to print.

Laser won't run when it gets wet. Ink jet has to dry. Laser is far superior, much better print quality. Checks have to be done on Laser printers.

I see people having issues trying to answer this correctly. Laser is the cheaper one (even though it seems more expensive). To give you a much better idea about lasers, go here:

the ink jet spreads colors on paper but laser doesn't.
laser is faster more precise but it's expensive.
another advantage about laser that it consumes less color than ink jet. then if you have money.... buy a laser.
