i am a heavy user and live in india. my range is 25-30 thousand(500-700 dollars). my minimum requirements are 80gb hdd, 512 ddr2 ram, dvd rw, core dua processor,14.1'' or wider screen and if possible nice graphics. plz help with model no and price.

Getting it for $789 after tax (free shipping & handling), is this a decent price for the laptop I'm getting?

Also do the specs sound conducive to a laptop that will be asked to do relatively minor gaming with mostly surfing and mp3/video downloads? Keep in mind that the ram is expandable to 4gb.

So, I know this question has been answered a ton, but I'm gonna ask it again. I'm heading into my 3rd year of college next year, and I'll need a good laptop. I'll primarily be using for word processing, my iPod, digital pictures and pretty basic stuff. I want to keep it under $1000 and not have the memory filled up within five days. I like Dells, cuz they're cheap, and my Dell PC works well. I thought about the 1502 in Jet Black, or the Apple laptop in black (I want black to match my RAZR2 (when I finally get one), iPod, and digital camera-not a must, but I like to coordinate), but I hear more bad things than good about Apple. So I'm confused. I just don't know what will do best for me. I really would rather stick with Dell or Apple, or possibly some other name brand. Thanks!

I have a laptop with XP. I am trying to record sound using either the Microsoft sound recorder or Streaming Audio Studio but no sound is recorded. I can hear the sound coming from my speakers (I have tried using both the internal speakers and an external speaker) but it doesn't record. Is there something different I need to do with a laptop? I've always had desktop PC's and have no idea how to make it record! Thanks to all of you for your help!

i have a winbook a series laptop, and it has 60 gb hard drive, 600 ram, and a slight line of dead pixels running across the screen. no built in wifi, but i included a usb adapter. how much should i seelll 4 on ebay? btw, the line of pixels DOES NOT OBSTRUCUT VIEW. it is hard to see, white, and the reason im selling it is b/c im gatting a macbook pro.

What is the best notebook/laptop out there. I am looking to have a custom laptop that will last me more than 1-2 years. Serious answers only please. If this helps; I will not use it for playing video games just storing and printing some photos, power point and microsoft word. Basically for business use and teaching, thanks.

When I power on my computer I get this: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corruupt:
\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file. WTF is this? I have tried using the system restore dvd but to no avail. When I can actually get it to boot to the restore I get a message that says ( not worded exactly) we could not continue restoration because the size of the hard drive could not be acquired. WTF is that about? Please help! This kinda has sentimental value to me. Is my restore disc ruined? Is my hard drive fried? Please any suggestions would help. I am not very computer savy and I am a broke *** college student, so I can not really afford to have a shop fix it. Help!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an HP dv1000 laptop and as i was installing printer drivers the Laptop hung and the screen went blank. I have restarted the machine many time and it boots ok but the screen is completely blank. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem. The laptop is around 18 months old.

Any advice would be much welcomed.

I am either getting a laptop or iBook for my Dad's house. I have A Windows XP computer at my mum's and wanted to try out an iBook. My mate has a PC, iBook and iMac and they say it is really good. Can I please have some pros and cons for either of them, I know Macs can install windows xp or vista which I am going to do if I get one but will the Windows on the iBook lag if i get a basic iBook (new but cheap).

Also on a laptop I can guarantee that Adobe After Effects will lag because on my Windows it does and I have a lot of ram (more than what comes with a Laptop). Will it lag on a iBook? I have heard it is extremely powerfull but i want to do a lot of editing and will iBook be a better choice?

Hey I have an important question that I need a HELPFUL answer to

My dad's dell inspiron 6000 is very messed up. He's had the computer for about a year now. A few days ago, he bought a casio exilim digi camera. He installed the software from the cd that came with the camera. He says ever since then, his wifi is not working right. Not only that, but internet explorer wont even open up. It opens and closes within 1 second. The computer isnt recognizing his built-in wireless card

On top of that, his built-in speakers arent working. it says that there are no audio devices connected. Instead of playing a sound it just makes a LOUD beep

Also I also think there is a problem with the video card, because the appearance properties dont allow the "windows xp theme". it only allows the "windows classic" theme. and also, windows skip a lot while u move them

We tried to use System Restore, but it wont let you open it. And Norton detects no viruses anywhere on the computer

PLEASE HELP US!

My fujitsu S series laptop has been recently damaged (pounded), it doesn't seem to be seriously damaged, but I could tell that it isn't the same as before. I bought it from Fry's, so, should I go to Fry's to let them check it out?
