i hav doubts whether the amd processor will be in any way inferior in performance compared to intel...i m mainly concerned abt d so called coolin prob in amd processors...most ppl hav adviced me 2 go 4 intel but really i m gettin a far better deal with amd...wht shud i do???

I want to upgrade from 1GB (2x512) to 2GB (2x 1GB). Apple's prices are nuts. Places like Ramdirect and Kingston have much better prices, but I want to avoid any compatabilty issues.

Can anyone suggest a reliable place to by a memory upgrade?

I tied to press reset, take battery out and in press power button for 20 seconds, it did come to live for 30-50 seconds and dead again. But it was some numbers on screen 089.01 088.02 079.00
Then windows screen appeared and then dead.

Ok, here we go....I got this message on my lap top one day: cannot start windows because the following file is missing; System32/Drivers/Ntfs.sys. Ok, thats all clear but then it says insert the windows xp disc and cd and then restart and repair the system, first problem is that my lap top does not have an insertion for discs only cds and second problem is that when I insert the Windows xp cd nothing happens, no menu, nothing........Anyone got any ideas that could help me????

I know this sounds weird, but I want to make my computer crash.
My company gives me a company laptop and I want their new one. The only way to get a new one is if this one is broken.
SO, is there a way to make my laptop crash, so that the IT department will know that I didn't purposely destroy it-aka throw it out the window?
And, please, no links to websites!

These are the specs:
Dell Computer, Intel Pentium Processor 1.86 ghz
782 mhz, 512 mb of ram
Microsoft Windows XP
Pro version 2002

For some unknown reason Dell Xps computer crash and gives me the following driver _IRQL-Less_or Equal .Dell support give me a crash tool that cant find it and they dont have a clue it some kind of software but I donk know for sure can someone help

I'm aware there are so many factors which make them faster than each other now, Dual Core / 64 Bit / Fastest outright CPU speed, fast RAM / high speed hard disk (which so many people overlook - have you fitted a 7200rpm yet) / and High memory 3D card.

So, what do you have, did you pay too much, and are you happy with it? ie its not too hot / too big / 5 mins batt life / low res screen / poor mouse / etc.

I'm looking for the perfect machine...I know Alienware are good, but they are bricks too. Two of my friends have Acer Ferrari laptops, and they are quite nice if I say so myself.

Currently I'm using 2.0GHz / 700odd MB RAM / 100GB 7200rmp disk / 64MB shared video mem / 1400 x 1050 screen....

as mentioned in my previous posts , my budget is around 37k but i can stretch it to 40-42 k rupees.i am getting hpdv1743 tu 1.86 core solo with winxp home for 42000 rs. compaq c303tu core solo for38000 without xp home, toshibasatellite l100for 43000 rs with xp home but no widescreen and finally lenovo n100 core solo for40k without windows. which one to buy keeping battery life in mind

Ok, I saw another post similar but I can still run windows from my computer. Just recently, this message "0200" comes up whenever I turn on my computer. I reboot my computer about a dozen times or so then it starts working again with no problems.

So, is my hard drive damaged or is it a virus? I tried doing a system recovery to an earlier date but still have the same problem. Sound similar to anyone? Resolutions? Insights would be appreciated? Thanks!

I have had Toshiba Laptops for many, many years but the latest ones have really gone down hill. They Freeze up every 5 minutes (this is NOT an exaggeration) and won't go into Hibernation. Next time your at the computer store take a demo and try to put it into hibernation, you'll see what I mean. Years ago I wrote the CEO and told him of a battery problem, within a week I have a phone call and a new battery in the mail. Now I write the CEO about the above problems and NOTHING. I think I may try Sony next time.
