I know this sounds weird, but I want to make my computer crash.
My company gives me a company laptop and I want their new one. The only way to get a new one is if this one is broken.
SO, is there a way to make my laptop crash, so that the IT department will know that I didn't purposely destroy it-aka throw it out the window?
And, please, no links to websites!

These are the specs:
Dell Computer, Intel Pentium Processor 1.86 ghz
782 mhz, 512 mb of ram
Microsoft Windows XP
Pro version 2002

From the start menu, you can select Run. Type Regedit into the dialog box that opens. This will open the registry editor for Windows Registry. Just start deleting and changing values in the registry.

Oh yeah, I hope you backed up everything before you took my suggestion.

You're looking not just for a crash, but for a catastrophic hardware failure. If the system crashes, the IT dept will just 'reimage' your machine. My vote is for heat.

1. back up all your important stuff
turn your laptop on
block off all ventilation (not tape but maybe a sheet of construction paper)
put it in the hottest place in the house (hey, you might even try an oven at ~170 degrees

the CPU will overheat and fail.
I promise.

Rub a magnet round it, that wont do it any good.
Alternatively change the processor speed to 6ghz if you know how to do this, i cant imagine that will do it any good either.

Your not suppose to do this . it is kind of stealing , but if you wanted to damage on your PC do these :

Switch your power voltage switch on 110v and then plug it / Break your mainboard

but don't do that my friend .

You can short-circuit the battery connectors.

Maybe you should be fired, and solve the problem in it's entirety.
