Well, there could be several problems, I would say that I need more info to answer your question. If your laptop shut down and it won't come, like you hit the turn on button and it blinks for 1 seconds and goes off. If that is what you are getting, then more than likely your memory (i.e. ram) has to be reset. You can do that by flipping the laptop and looking under it to see the part that show a picture a RAM... unscew all the screws and get the ram out and put it in again. Don't worry that would not void your warranty.
If that doesn't help, then try buying a new Ram, and putting it in.
However, if your laptop is under warranty then HP will replace your memory.

Please let me know more info so that I could help.

Ok, well then if it went all the way to the windows screen and then shutdown, then I would say that either you have a problem with your hard drive or you have a virus. Try booting it up in a safe mode. Switch the PC off completely and press the power on button while holding your hand on the F8 key. As soon as you get to the black screen, scroll up and choose: SAFE MODE ONLY....
Do that and update your info.

Sounds like you have a bit of malware. First, though, try recharging the battery. Agreeing with the people above: you need to take it into a shop.

this is a common problems with all HP laptops, I have one and I had to send mine it to be serviced by HP twice.. best thing about the servicing is that you get yur laptop back within a week..
your problem is caused by improper shut down, what you have to avoid doing is, just closing your computer thinking that it will shut itself down, it will eventually for will be forced to..creating strain on its systems.. it takes about 30 secs to do a proper shutdown, just do that..call HP and check and see if you still have warranty on it, even if you dont they will charge a small fee.. simply ship it to them in a box they will provide, and you'll recieve it in about 3 days time..fixed, and everything..

Sounds like a virus....I would have it checked out by an expert. Same type thing happened to my son's computer...It cost $60.00 to have a pro remove the viruses.

You can't fix it, must have that serviced, looks like a virus took over it.
