I can't find any Intel emailadress to ask THEM (they do everything in their powers to keep those a secret), but how do i find the list of 1400x1050 monitors which ARE supported by the Intel 810 chip? What if i debug or hexedit the driver files, would that be aby help or can i hexedit (hexview then, ofcourse) code in the chip ITSELF?

(Also see:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnDS_k_RQB8cC203kG9mopnsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20071024160919AAD8guq&show=7#profile-info-11a6b9b39d24901f039c989537fa0697aa)

I think there are still hundred of thousands 810 chips out there (it was a rather common chip), so i think it's rather inconsiderate to their customers that Intel doesn't give any 810 support aka. updated 810 drivers.

(Please: only serious answers! Otherwise, my answer has less change of getting a serious answer at all.)

Which is the recommended choice for my laptop?

Is it Normal startup, diagnostic or selective?

If I go to start up and remove some start up icons, the system automatically chooses selective startup. So which is the recommended option for my laptop?

Please explain whats the use of this! In the process of messing with it and a few restarts, some of my wifi settings which were wrong actually became right on its own. I was quite happy about it!!

But I somehow am unable to figure out this msconfig thing and please tell me when should I go in there and what are its uses.

Appreciate the help folks!

I do mainly video editing/photoshop etc but hardly any gaming.

I don't want to do any overclocking and I was looking at these packages. One is a 6600 and the other is 6850:

6600: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?MBB-P5NQ66

6850: http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?MBB-P5N685

I've read reviews and comparisons all over the internet and they they only seem to take into account that you spend all of your time gaming and you want to overclock them.

I think i'm stuck between weather i should go for the dual core or quad core.

What would you recommend? Will one need more cooling than the other? Which will run faster out of the box for Sony Vegas, photoshop and flash?

I'm upgrading from a Pentium 4 2.6GHz with 1GB RAM. Will i see much of an improvement?

I'll be using the new setup to go to Uni with so I won't want to be doing any more upgrading for around 3 years!

Thanks a lot
Jon

How often should one do it? Does it really help for the computer?

I'm purchasing a PC system rig for Christmas from NewEgg. I want a high end system, but not TOO high that I'm punching holes in my wallet. I don't plan on overclocking anything. Feel free to offer better prices and especially point out any glaring inconsistencies you have between the components. This is what I have planned....

-ASUS P5E LGA 775 Intel X38 ATX (~$249.99)
-Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz LGA 775 (~$279.99)
-Radeon HD 2900 XT 512MB Asus DX10 (~$419.99)
-CORSAIR 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 533 SDRAM (~$49.99)

What I plan to recycle from my old system:

-450W Antec PSU (hey it's Antec, so that makes it stronger, right?
-Soundblaster Live! Audigy 2 ZS (Is this Direct 9x compatible?)
-Two 100 GB harddrives
-DVD and CD writer/reader

My ultimate question: Will all of this work alright? Does the CPU and video card compliment each other? What about the power supply -- is it adequate? Finally, what kind of cooling will be needed -- One fan? Two fans? Water cooling?

I'm trying to add more memory to my Inspiron 6000 laptop. It has two bays, and I currently have a 512 MB stick in each for a total of 1 GB. I just bought two new 1 GB sticks of the correct type and speed, to up my total to 2 GB. When I install the two new sticks, however, my computer freezes up while trying to boot into Windows Vista, on the loading screen with the scrolling bar. I know the RAM is good because if I install just one of either of the new 1 GB sticks and leave one of my memory bays open Windows loads up fine. I can also boot into safe mode with both new sticks installed. I have done a memory test with both new sticks installed and they passed.

Help is appreciated!

I recently added a wireless keyboard and mouse on my desktop PC. Now, my screensaver won't come on! I've tried re-doing the settings and still nothing. Could it be something to do with the wireless keyboard and mouse? The screensaver would always come on after 5 mins. Any suggestions would be so great! Thanks!

It was in the USB port when I accidentally ran into the computer (smart, I know) and the tip of the flash drive became crooked. I pushed it back so it was straight again, but now it doesn't work anymore. It doesn't show up on my computer, and the light doesn't flash either.

Does anyone have ideas on how to fix it? 10 points to first person with an answer the works. Thanks so much! :)

Hi. My cd-dvd drive is not recognizing that I put a disk on the tray. It doesnt give me that option box that lets you choose if you want to "play" or "copy" the CD. Nothing happens, like there isnt a disk in the tray. I've tried going thru windows media player, using a DVD playing program, no programs are recognizing any disk I use, DVD or CD.

I'm running on a cruddy old Emachines Media Center PC, T3096. The card is a Nvidia GeForce4 Mx Integrated.

When I open the display and click on the adapter properties, it says I have a PCI card. But then, when I go to the Nvidia Geforce menu or w/e it's called, it says "Bus: AGP 4x"

So I'm confused as to which type of video card I should buy. I have about $120 to work with. Please help!

Having switched from Microsoft to Apple I was excited to get back into Yahoo IM'ing. I have, however, as yet, not been able to find a cam that works with OS X 10.4.10. Tomorrow my new operating system (Leopard) arrives and I sure would love to have the ability to cam again. Does anyone know of a cam that is suitable with my Desktop MacPro? In advance, thank you very much for your time.

I just hooked my old HD up to the computer in order to save some documents I really need to get onto the new hard drive. Unfortunately, on the old hard drive, I had set up Windows XP for myself (Owner) and 2 other people. Since I cannot boot from the old hard drive, or if there is a way to do it, I don't know what that is, I cannot enter my password to log on as Owner on the old Hard drive. There is no opportunity to log on to the Owner section of the old drive. I have already salvaged the other stuff, but I need the Owner's documents before I deep-six the drive.

How can I login if I can't even boot off the old drive?
