It was in the USB port when I accidentally ran into the computer (smart, I know) and the tip of the flash drive became crooked. I pushed it back so it was straight again, but now it doesn't work anymore. It doesn't show up on my computer, and the light doesn't flash either.

Does anyone have ideas on how to fix it? 10 points to first person with an answer the works. Thanks so much! :)

Sounds like the internal circuits got snapped. Time for a new flash drive, tey're cheap now tho.

This is the reason I always avoid using front USB sockets of a floor standing PC . . . I always use a USB hub sat on the desk . . . also saves me bending down to it.

I run into computers all the time!

Is the USB tip swinging, or movable with ease? If so, I'm afraid your better off getting a new one (prices are falling every day); I don't know how to fix a broken USB port, but I imagine it would require soldering, and would probably be complicated.

Otherwise, look into the USB tip and see if all the gold contacts are straight and intact. You also want to get the tip back into it's proper shape, so try to pry it (gently, if you can) into the original rectangular shape, and make sure it plugs into your computer completely. Try wiggling it and pushing into your computer (again, GENTLY) to see if it's just not fitting well.

If that doesn't work, or the tip's really broken off, and you NEED whatever is on there, you can get the data recovered. Search for 'data recovery' or 'flash drive recovery' or 'hard drive recovery'. These companies can take the drive, get the data off and send it to you. But it is usually pretty costly. The first site I found (I don't know if they're good) was:

I hope this helps somewhat, and good luck!

somewhat i could say that FlashDrives are finally quicker than good states. attempt asking an IT specialist or you are able to could desire to purchase a clean USB, i'm afraid I purely be attentive to a thank you to eliminate partitions on a confusing force. yet! in case you flow to disk administration, createone/deleteone and then take the USB out. OR on the USB, delete each and every little thing it somewhat is taking on that 1GB :)

well you have no option other than throwing it away because since your tip is crooked the warranty is void. and since no usb drives comes with a screw the flash drive can't be mend. Be careful next time buddy!!!
