Which is the recommended choice for my laptop?

Is it Normal startup, diagnostic or selective?

If I go to start up and remove some start up icons, the system automatically chooses selective startup. So which is the recommended option for my laptop?

Please explain whats the use of this! In the process of messing with it and a few restarts, some of my wifi settings which were wrong actually became right on its own. I was quite happy about it!!

But I somehow am unable to figure out this msconfig thing and please tell me when should I go in there and what are its uses.

Appreciate the help folks!

the config utility is only there to help with problem solving - you don't need to touch it unless you have problems.

ie - leave it in 'normal startup'

Msconfig or system configuration utility is the windows system utility that you can set or change the other software to automatic start or load in the memory during the windows booting up. If you change something in the configuration the default startup selection is selective because you select something but if you want to run the default or all the program running during the windows booting select normal for me the better is selective because not all program automatic loading are not neccessary needed it's only cause of slow of computer because they using some of memory
