The pin in the jack plug on my EiSytem laptop has just snapped, the battery has ran out so laptop now completely useless, does any one have any suggestions of what i can do to sort this out. thanks

So I finally had a chance to go out and buy a Pioneer 112D and an external USB enclosure today, but at the counter I realized that I had no idea whether my laptop had an IDE or a SATA capable motherboard. I was told that IDE would work either way, so I decided to purchase it.

Now that I'm home, I just noticed on my "Device Manager" that my Dell Latitude D820 laptop has a "82801 GBM/GHM Serial ATA Storage Controller". Should I return the IDE Pioneer at the External case and purchase the SATA model?

The cashier told me that as far as external DVD writers go, the difference between IDE and SATA writers is negligible. She told me it only makes a real difference when the drive is internal. Is this true?

Your advice? I haven't opened the packaging yet...

Oh, and more generally, how does a Pioneer 112D in an External Case compare with a higher end model, like a PLEXTOR? Are Plextors still cream of the crop?

After I click on the user name it just says" setting up your personal settings" and then the keyboard and mouse stops working. I have already tried to restore the PC to an earlier date (it doesn't work) and it does work limited only in safe mode. I have a emachine T3512. Can someone please help me? Thank you

The other day my computer kept restarting so i hit it. ^^; It started beeping and then shut down, when i turned it back on the vodeo did not show up on my monitor and when i tried another one the picture was very wavy and i could see anything. The current graphics card I'm using is worthless and i cant play anything with it. Does anyone know what i did?
PS: I tried buying a new graphics card but dew to my old mother board it didnt fit in any of the ports.

I rly want a laptop, but i dont kno wat kind to get. Its gotta have at least 80GB and over 512 RAM, with Vista and Office Suite Program. I dont want to spend any more than 1000 dollars. It can exceed any memory or hardrive. Itll mainly be used for school and music. Thx for teh info! ^^

okay,
when i play guildwars on my computer it works you know, every hour or mabey every 20 minutes it will just shut off the whole comptuer will shut off. I thought it was overheating so i reversed a fan in the case, befor i had two blowing out and one blowing in so i fliped one around so now 2 are blowing in and one is blowing out, i know i have to have atleast 1 fan blowing out, but i think it is my graphic card i have a ge-force 6500 the minimum requirments for this game is an ati or ge-force 3 or 4 mx or an 8500 ati card. so mine is obviously too small for this game which would over heat and cause the computer to auto shut down so nothing frys
someone told me this theory so are they rite?
the only thing i dont have that is required for this game is the rite graphic card

I know 1080p is 1920x1080 progressive. Does that mean 1920x1200 is better? When upgrading and changing hard drives mean i have to buy Windows OS again? Well when I upgrade/change my hard drive the files to run Windows won't be there anymore, Neither will the drivers for my DVD-ROM drive, USB, aor anything else will be there too.

I want to buy a computer off dell and I noticed that buying the cheapest hard drive and upgrading when you get it is cheaper rather than buying the huge 500GB (or whatever) model right off the site. This is why I don't want and external drive, I need a laptop, external components defeat the purpose of portability.

Is there a way to copy ALL files to my hard drive before it become the C/ drive. I think that microsoft would make it impossible to do this since you can make free copies of windows.

I have some smears and such on my labtop screen....not sure how you get them off without hurting the screen. I looked in the handbook for my computer and they didn't say anything on how to clean it. Any suggestions? I was thinking maybe a micro cloth.....but that doesn't get the smears off.

Have any of you ever gotten color copies off a copier at the library? Does anyone know the cheapest place I can make just one color copy of a page in a book? I want several copies of different pages from one book, would it be cheaper to go to a printer or find a color copier at a library or somewhere and do it myself?
