I haven't bought one in the last few months, but I assume they all have Vista now.

I would encourage you to err on the side of more memory. You will need 512 minimum, and if you could get a gig (or two) youi'd be better off.

That said, DELL always has deals but I personally like Sony Vaio's for their keyboards and usability and HP (Hewlett-Packartd) machines simply because they're well-bult and not DELLs. I'd keep away from machines you've never heard of. Unlike desktop computers, you're stuck with a lot of the stuff you bought, and it's not easy (if even possible) to swap it out, so you need to start with a machine you like.

Walk into a Best Buy and see what they have and see what you like. Then go to http://www.pcconnection.com and order what you saw (it'll be cheaper).

now why do you want windows Vista in the first place?

so now we will price your system

windows Vista Premium -------- $299.00
Office for Vista ................-------- $399.00
Laptop computer.... ..................$600.00
Total Price .........................$1398.00

Now Vista is very unstable, still lots of bugs in it, 1000's of complaints by users, you need to do your research into vista before you buy it,

have you go an alternative to windows XP or Vista "YES"
What is it?
Linux operating systems
Never heard of it, Why?
Because it is free!
Free where do you get it from?
Download it from the internet,
What about programs like MS Office
you get Open Office free too which is better than MS office.... do your research into Linux
Dell, HP, Compaq computers are now installing Linux onto their computers

Do your home work on Linux there are many versions out there all better than Vista

i've got been merchandising Dell for years and that i will tell you that there are various factors Dell has over the competition respectable help in case you pay for it sturdy selection of areas, in case you desire a keyboard after the guaranty is up or something comparable then dell has alot of goods from sellers on ebay They continuously supply you a CD to reinstall your laptop in no way a no longer ordinary tension partition in elementary terms The studio and XPS systems have a different show screen hinge that relatively reduces placed on and tear, the show screen hinge on pc is notoriously on of the super fail products and extremely in many cases unrepaired because of the fact it is too high priced, human beings in basic terms stay with the undertaking now and returned having to prop open there video show with yet another merchandise fee, particularly whilst they pass on sale, Dell in elementary terms buys what they desire from the manufactures and because they do no longer save such super inventory then they save the fee down i'm going to declare that toshiba has the wonderful guarantee yet you need to pay alot for it and there machines ruin down alot i think of you will do nicely with a Dell Jon
