What brand of printer is the best? And what are all the types of printers, I only know Inkjet and Laser printers. Can you explain all of them?

My Documents have all disappeared from the My Documents Folder and part of my Start Menu is missing. Prior to this I had a problem with the laptop shutting down if I touched it or moved it. What could the problem be? Is there any way I can retrieve the lost information.

PS - This laptop is only 1 month old and had a problem with switching off from the time I bought it.

I have an hp Centrino zt3380us and it has an 2.0 usb enhaced port but the speed is the same as usb. 1.1. I see adapters on ebay that are adapters that plug in to your usb hubs in the laptop but it seems this would not change anything because they are 1.1 even though the adapter is usb 2.0. so I have seen pc cards that have usb 2.0 with four hubs and wondered if the would convert it to usb 2.0. thanx peeps.

I have Avast antivirus on my laptop and I don't have the problem of it running in the background all the time as Spy Sweeper does on my desktop. I want to delete Spy Sweeper and install Avast but then I wonder if Spy Sweeper is working harder than Avast when it's constantly running. Has anyone else had this problem with Spy Sweeper, or feel as though there is a problem with Spy Sweeper? And, does anyone have an opinion about Avast?

I have tried looking in the help manual for tips but it doesn't help much. I have a pretty crappy on board sound card, but an excellent outboard M-Audio sound card. I also just upgraded my RAM so I know it's not that.

I have 2 desktop computers in my home. neither has a wireless card. I only have 1 phone jack in the living room, and one cable TV in there as well. One computer is in the bedroom, the other is in the study. i want the internet wireless. Is there away to make a dasktop wireless that is not invasive? I dont want to take this aprat or pay big cash. I know lap tops have a special slot for a wireless card to plug in if they are not made with one.

Please if you can give a link to a site to support your answer, id really appreciate it.

i have 1 agp 4x/8x video board on a ga-k8vnxp mobo. The amd is a athalon 63 3000 running at 2.0. I want to upgrade the video card but dont know what specifications i need to look for in a new card other than it has to fit in a agp slot. Any suggestions on how to shop and what to look for? I am replacing my ghetto built PC, and am wondering if I should try going the way of the iMAC. I know jack about **** when it comes to computing, but live in a family of know-it-alls and they all swear up and down that PC is the way to go. I am not a gamer, I don't do business type ****. I use the internet, word processing, digital photos, and that's about it. I have looked on craigslist, and can find an iMAC G3 for about $100. Ok Ok, so its outdated, but can it give me the idea of what operating a Mac is like? And would it be worth the investment? I don't have the money to go buy a $1200 computer only to find out I can't use the damn thing. But I can float a c-note. Ok, so to recap, because I am lost right now:

2. Are they harder to use than a PC, or just different?
3.Can I learn the language on a used iMAC G3?

I posted a question under another user I have about a month ago or something like that. It was just a simple question. "Macs: love them, or hate them?" and explain why, of course. I totally forgot about it because I rarely log in as that user, but I did tonight, and the question's gone? I purchased the Brother 2040 B/W laser printer. I have some black and white photographs and wanted to print them out with the laser printer. However, I've heard that I can't use gloss paper because the heat will melt the coating and ruin the printer. Is there high quality photo paper for laser printers? Does it make a difference if the paper is for color laser printers as opposed to black and white? Factors such as weight, iso brightness, gloss, matte...it is all becoming very confusing with such a wide selection.

The photos are pretty sharp and I want to use the highest possible quality paper that is the safest to use on the laser printer. I would like to get the most professional looking results possible with a laser printer. However, finding that paper is proving rather daunting!

my moniter is about two feet from my tv and when i turn my tv on, the computer moniter starts to flicker. It is a verry fine flicker but it is noticible. is there any sort of component that will stop it. and no, i cant move the moniter any further from the tv because there is simply no other maner to organize my stuff.

I bought a mother-board ASUS P5-PE-VM, a CPU Celeron 2.66 (775) 331 ROI, together with DDR 256KM, HDD Samsung 40GB.

The computer works well but not stably. Its power source is sometimes suddenly cut off without any reason. Pls help. Thnks.

it'sloast it's CD Drive all of a sudden

it was connected to broadband internet a few months ago then all of a sudden it stopped loading CDs, the cd thing pops out and in but thats it

you go into my computer and the only thing there is Hard Drive and Floppy disk drives, no CD Drive.

I've tried a computer search

I've tried "Run" in the start menu

I've even tried control panel/add or remove programs/add through Cd or floppy but when I try and browse for the CD drive it's not there (again)

the hardrive in question is going into the internet within the next three days. is ther software I can downlaod FREE that will allow me to use the CD Drive?
or do you have any other bright ideas?

I don't want to have to take in to be repaired
the warantee is out and I'm broke

A tech looked at it...seems to be the power supply. I believe it is soldered to the motherboard- right? Any ideas how much it would be to fix it? I'm handy...can I do it myself? Pop out key borad, unscrew, pop it in and out??? Any other ideas on why it won't turn on...tried other power cable still nothing...and it should run on AC power even if the battery is dead.

This would be the 2nd computer in the house, would I just have a router or would they set up another cable modem for this computer? I see on this computer they have a phone line connecting it and a special cable line going to the modem. Would I have to buy a 56k modem too?
