My Documents have all disappeared from the My Documents Folder and part of my Start Menu is missing. Prior to this I had a problem with the laptop shutting down if I touched it or moved it. What could the problem be? Is there any way I can retrieve the lost information.

PS - This laptop is only 1 month old and had a problem with switching off from the time I bought it.

Yes you can retrieve your lost data, it is very easy :)

what you need to do is:

Go to:
http://www.download.com/Active-Undelete-Data-Recovery/3003-2248_4-10502295.html

Download this program, however it is limited, you can buy it if you want. It is a good program for data-recovery.
However if you don't want to pay, you can use below free program.

Hopefully this helps you.

Peace

You ought to get it checked from the vendor as soon as possible. However, this could also be a software problem. The simplest way, which you might like to try, is to re install windows. This will not get ur data back but will make your laptop safer for data in the future.

First, you have to get a time machine. Then go back to just before you noticed it missing, and save it.

is it new? if so, contact the manufacturer...it's still under warranty and they should fix the problem(s)
