I have tried looking in the help manual for tips but it doesn't help much. I have a pretty crappy on board sound card, but an excellent outboard M-Audio sound card. I also just upgraded my RAM so I know it's not that.

When you do video editing, you can only run the editing program. You cannot use the computer for anything else while you are burning/saving a movie to your disk/HDD. This means that once you start playing with your video, you have to finish what your doing before you open any other windows or programs. Video editing programs use the maximum system resources. All of your CPU power is tied up when editing videos. If you try to check e-mails, for example, while editing , that may cause your underruns.Make sure that the settings are set up to prevent overruns and underruns when copying to DVD in your program.
