Hi there

Depending on what type of motherboard you have will determine what type of ram can be installed. Today's motherboards will either DDR or DRR2 RAM. DDR2 RAM is faster than DDR RAM. The size of a DDR2 chip is bigger than a DDR chip so it will not even fit onto the board.

Have a look at this site http://www.netrino.com/Publications/Glossary/MemoryTypes.html

Hope this helps.

DD2 Ram is currently the fastest in the market. But before buying, do check if your system CPU is AMD or Intel. AMD system do not support DDR2 due to the on-die memory controller.

I have read in a review before that DDR2 400 and 533 MHz have over little or no perceptible performance over standard DDR. The improvement in performance is only noticeable for DDR2 667MHz and above. If you are seriously considering of getting one, go for DDR2 667MHz and above.

You have to find out which type your Laptop uses, that is the only type that it will take. Right now DDR and DDR2 are the only ones that matter, with DDR2 being the replacement of DDR.

DDR2 is the fastest at the moment, although I have heard they are working on flash memory. Try www.crucial.com they may be able to tell you more.
