Apparently Sony has been using a different type of battery for their own vaio notebooks, at least according to this one source. I too was concerned since I also own a vaio sz series notebook.
Apendum:
I found another source. The second one lists all manufacturers and models for battery recals.
2nd Apendum:
Sony is now saying that they WILL conduct a battery recall on batteries in Sony Vaio laptops, but they are not saying which models will be affected at this time.

i have even were given the exact same concern and they are wanting the: Serial volume (The Serial volume (s/n) is a 10-digit alpha-numeric volume it quite is unique for your product.) & Product volume (The Product volume (p/n) is a six or seven-digit alpha-numeric volume that identifies your product. If there's a pound signal (#) or a splash (-) in the p/n, enter in elementary words the letters and numbers earlier the # or - signal.) yet, on my computer, there is not any codes matching the above on the bar coded a million of the in elementary words 3 stickers that got here with the device. i visit't procedure any assure declare without those and they are no longer there :( all and sundry help? i'm at my wit's end with this and the HP website is a nightmare to apply.

No vaio laptops have been recalled yet. They use a different battery than the one provided to Dell or others.
