I have Avast antivirus on my laptop and I don't have the problem of it running in the background all the time as Spy Sweeper does on my desktop. I want to delete Spy Sweeper and install Avast but then I wonder if Spy Sweeper is working harder than Avast when it's constantly running. Has anyone else had this problem with Spy Sweeper, or feel as though there is a problem with Spy Sweeper? And, does anyone have an opinion about Avast?

Spy Sweeper runs in the background to offer real-time spyware protection. Spy Sweeper is the best available in spyware protecton. If you do not like the realtime running of Spy Sweeper, you should try the free version of Ad Aware. You can get it at www.lavasoft.de Glad to help

There is no BEST. What is great today, is second best next week. The best move is if everyone uses a diversity of anti-virus solutions. Yes, Avast is AWESOME, and I thank you for using it. I have Norton. If I get infected, you might not, or vice-versa. You see, with the diversity, one of us will stop the proliferation of viruses. If we all had the same one, then a virus could POP through all of us and be a serious threat.

For Anti-Spyware, I use Ad-aware and SpyBot Search & Destroy. These are inactive solutions that protect me. I update and run these often to clear out any possible threat.

yeah I didn't like the feel of avast personally... was kind of hard to understand without pulling out the help screen numberous times... I've been using Grisoft's AVG on 2 other personal computers and love it... no issues with updating (my main issue with Avast was you couldn't tell when it was updating) as I know it's updating and when... Just a lot more user friendly

I find the Ad-Aware is good, but you need another one like Spybot as I find Spybot finds more opera and firefox problems than Ad-aware
