i have 1 agp 4x/8x video board on a ga-k8vnxp mobo. The amd is a athalon 63 3000 running at 2.0. I want to upgrade the video card but dont know what specifications i need to look for in a new card other than it has to fit in a agp slot. Any suggestions on how to shop and what to look for? Any suggestions on a card? my current card is 2 years old and never was top of the line.

It depends on your budget, and what you want to do with it. I'm guessing you want to game. My suggestion is to browse Newegg's selection of AGP video cards - you can find it at http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?N=2010380048+1069609639&Submit=ENE&SubCategory=48

I would recommend the XFX Geforce 6800XT card for a midline video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150163

For something more top of the line, the XFX Geforce 7600GS is pretty good, but a little more expensive. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814150166

Probably the best AGP card (for gaming) you can get is the BFG Geforce 7800GS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143046

I'm pretty partial to NVIDIA, as their cards seem to get better performance for the price, and also the benchmarks are way better than ATI's, but you might check out their offerings as well. Check out the reviews on Newegg and other websites, and if you want to see how the performance compares on different cards, check out Tom's Hardware's Video card chart at http://www.tomshardware.com

Good luck!

Get another AGP video card, what size memory did you have on your current card? If you have a 64Mb AGP card, move up to a 128Mb AGP card. Your top of the line cards are usually 512Mb and can be hooked in tandem. So, 64Mb, 128Mb, 256Mb, and 512Mb AGP cards should work okay in your box. Now it's just a matter of $$$. Get an NVidia card if your a gamer.

I would absolutely agree with the previous answer, but don't go with the 7600GS, it uses GDDR2 memory which is crappy, it overheats easily. Go with either of the other two.
