I've send question recently titled "Bad Hard Disk" but I'm not getting answer for my question, instead they ask me question back... don't these people who answer never read carefully before answering any question???

Every time i start up windows xp the blue screen pops up saying starting up but it takes anywhere between 10 to 60 minutes how do i fix this problem without losing data

I've bought a 30GB Seagate external hard disk 6mth ago. Recently, I've accidentally tripped over the USB cable that attached from my hard disk to my laptop and the cable got unattached from it while my laptop were actually playing some songs from the hard disk. Later when I try to plug back the cable, it couldn't find any files in it. I’ve tried every method, but still fail. I can’t even format it. In the properties of My Computer, says that the file system of this drive is RAW. I’ve also tried many data recovery software but It doesn’t detect this drive at all. I know the best solution is to send this drive to the data recovery companies if I want to get back all my data in it, but the reason I ask here is to get feedback from anyone out there, if you have any instruction of doing the data recovery myself. I also know that doing it myself is risky and may defect the disk even more but I want to give it a try and to learn something new. Please help. Thanks.

my computer sometimes detect the hard drive and CD rom and sometimes not. More over during installation the windows 98 setup gets stucked while checking the drives. one thing I must tell is that this hard drive was working fine dew days ago on a server. Please help me.

I already have 256MB (2 x 128MB moduals), but would like to get 1GB (4 x 256MB moduals). I've tried several of the downloadable programs that tell you what memory you need and they all come back unknown. All i can get from the HP website is PC 600 RDRAM RIMMs 128 or 256 MB x 16, 600MHz, PC600 184p RIMM, RDRAM, 2.5v which does tally with some of the info on the moduals already fitted.

The other problem is where do i get this from in the UK. UK shops don't seem to stock this older RAM and the US website's that do only ship to the US. Finaly can i change to a different type of RAM that is more reedaly available, if so which one?

Ive just bought a second hard-drive from my machine.

I currently have a 160 gig installed as a master and Ive just added my new 160 gig as a salve.

Ive booted up the machine and in the setup, ive set it up so both IDE devices are on AUTO.

I then restarted my machine, went into my computer, and only my master drive shows up????

have I done something wrong?

Basically, a friend of my parents has bought a second hand IBM ThinkPad, and it's being an annoying little b****.

It loads and runs fine, but after about 5-10 minutes, I get a blue memory dump screen come up and then it reboots itself too quickly for me to read that screen.

It runs Windows XP Home SP2, and I'm attempting to use my Windows XP Professional SP2 full install disc to reinstall Windows on it to see if it makes any difference, but it only lasts about 5 minutes, which hasn't given it enough time to load all the setup files.

Any ideas?

help, i cant get my keyboard to work. its usb. ive tried another 3 keyboards and they dont work either. i cant get into the bios to make sure usb is enabled. got to press F2. and the computer wont start without a keyboard plugged in. can anyone help me please.

I have 2 512mb modules installed, thats 1gb ram. I want to upgrade to 2gb of ram.

I have an Olympus Camedia MAUSB-10 USB reader/writer, and I can't seem to get my computer to recognize it. When I plug it in, the InstallWizard goes through it's thing, then shows a little exclamation point error saying that the device could not be installed because the drivers were not installed or something. Do I find the drivers on the Olympus website? Anyone know anything about this??? It's really frustrating!!!!

ok i have just upgraded my win 98 to win 2000, well i can use both operating systems. But when i go to win 2000 my monitor size is alright but when i check the colour settings in the display, settings. It only shows 1 colour which is 16 colour. While it should give a selection of: 256 colours, high colour 16-bit, true colour 24-bit and true colour 32-bit. So does any one know how to change it so i don't just have 1 colour range

I want to build my very own gaming computer. I dont know exactly how I wana go about this. I want something that will handle alot of the new mmorpg like world of warcraft, guildwars, and some fps(first person shooters) like halo, doom, doom 2, doom3, and some others and wanted to know wut should I spend the most on for best quality like the graphics card, power supply, motherboard, ram, ecs..... I was gona buy a 900 watt powersupply with 1 120 mm side panel fan, 4 or 5 internal fans, and sum other stuff and wanted to know wut I should spend most of my money on. And yes I do have a limit of 3.5k

My friend says she needs help. I don't understand the situation seeing as I know very little about laptops.

But apparently it has something to do with Transformers, and wanting to charge her laptop while it's still one.

I don't know why but nothing shows up on my monitor when I power up the PC. What could it be? I have tried three monitors on it but nothing comes up. The monitor remains blank. Can anyone help me identify the problem? Thanks!
