I already have 256MB (2 x 128MB moduals), but would like to get 1GB (4 x 256MB moduals). I've tried several of the downloadable programs that tell you what memory you need and they all come back unknown. All i can get from the HP website is PC 600 RDRAM RIMMs 128 or 256 MB x 16, 600MHz, PC600 184p RIMM, RDRAM, 2.5v which does tally with some of the info on the moduals already fitted.

The other problem is where do i get this from in the UK. UK shops don't seem to stock this older RAM and the US website's that do only ship to the US. Finaly can i change to a different type of RAM that is more reedaly available, if so which one?

Sorry to say: RD RAM was going to be the way of the future until the people who invented charged way too much in royalties. So instead we moved from SD RAM to DDR RAM. Very few desktop computers were ever made with RD RAM in them. This is why your diagnostic programs are failling. I seriously doubt that you will be able to buy any quantity of this RAM at a realistic price i.e. it would end up being cheaper and easier to replace the computer.

Sorry this isn't good news.

Sorry to say you wont be able to use anything but rdram in your system .
I couldnt find any shops that would ship to the U.K , and after seeing prices of rdram, it would probably be cheaper to swap motherboards for one that supports a more commonly used ram and throw 1GB in that .

You could always try www.ebay.com , but there's always a risk buying used parts there.

I like either http://www.crucial.com or http://www.kingston.com
but you can also get RAM upgrades directly from HP
http://www.hp.com
