More than likely you're using an OEM name-brand computer that has a video card built right onto the motherboard.
These video cards do not have their own memory built-in like normal video cards so they must "borrow" memory from the main supply.
It's a way to lower costs for PC manufacturers.
If you don't plan on playing a lot of 3D games or applications, you can go into the BIOS/setup upon bootup and change the AMOUNT of RAM the video card is allowed to borrow.

Hello there. Go to the BIOS set up and see if you have the same 512 MB RAM. If that is the case, then your computer is very normal. Your system(computer) uses RAM in many ways and usually this is hidden from the user. The RAM displayed sometimes reflect the actual RAM you have for your use; if you engage the CPU. I hope it helps. Enjoy!

the reason on your device exhibiting purely 504mb of the put in 512mb RAM, is that 8mb is being "borrowed" by making use of your onboard snap shots Controller. Onboard snap shots Controllers at the instant are not as efficient as PCI, AGP or PCI-e snap shots enjoying cards that comprise their very own memory to safeguard dedicated snap shots rendering. in spite of a upload-in snap shots card, you will ought to function extra RAM for gaming, and your a million.7Ghz CPU is going to have a confusing time protecting up.

Are you sure about 445MB?
If you have a video card, sharing 64MB, you may have 448MB avaible to Windows. But, 445MB? I´ve never seen something like this!

Mean:

Video cards can use shared memory divided in multiples of 8 (8, 16, 24, 32, 64, 128 and etc...).
