Read your Hard Drive question. Read the four posted responses. They all appeared to be valid answers to the question.

If the disk to showing as RAW format, that means that the head is not able to find or read the boot sector of the hard drive. If that is true, NO data recovery program is going to help. The head itself has been physically damaged and is not moving properly. The freezer trick (freezing hard drive overnight) MIGHT work, but probably not. It usually works for "shorts", not for damaged heads.

A data recovery company could recover the data by opening the hard drive and replacing the head. Expect to pay between $2000 and $2500 to have that done. (Yes, that is thousands). Most places will charge you $100-150 to check to see if data is recoverable. And then you will not get the old hard drive back. You will just get the data on CD or DVD.
