My friend says she needs help. I don't understand the situation seeing as I know very little about laptops.

But apparently it has something to do with Transformers, and wanting to charge her laptop while it's still one.

She says it's plugged in, and yet it doesnt' charge. Any suggestions? =/

There could be two things going on here:

1. The battery is really not charging when it is plugged in. The reason for this is that there is something broken in the computer. They all charge while plugged in, no matter what.

2. She doesn't see the "battery" icon in the system tray when it is plugged in, so she thinks it's not charging.

The way to test this is to run the laptop off the battery for a little while so the battery goes down. Take a look at the "remaining" power and plug in the power. Run it for a little while longer and then take a look at the battery power again. If it has gone up, then it is charging. If you're running Windows XP or 2000, double-clicking on the battery icon will show you its current status and whether it is actively charging.

I'm pretty sure you should keep the laptop on while its charging, depending on how old the unit is there could be a chance that the battery has had it and you may need to purchase a new one, you can have your battery chrcked at any good computer repair agent. Also make sure she is charging it for atleast 6 hours or till the battery meter says its at 100%

while i was searching on the internet i came upon a site that said that some laptops don't have the option to charge when it is on because it causes the battery to a memory defect.
