my computer sometimes detect the hard drive and CD rom and sometimes not. More over during installation the windows 98 setup gets stucked while checking the drives. one thing I must tell is that this hard drive was working fine dew days ago on a server. Please help me.

It sounds like you've recently added this hard drive to your computer? If so, then either the hard drive OR the cd-rom must be selected as the Master and one of them, the Slave. I would set both on Cable Select. But I do believe that's your problem.

Make sure you have Win 98 SE (Second Edition) otherwise you have a buggy OS

Try to scan your pc for viruses or restore to an ealier restore point when the pc was working fine.

The problem with your PC is just that it's a PC. What do you expect? Get a Mac.

i think its about the software ware of your hard ware 98 its too old
