I had a dell computer and dell moniter but I changed and have an old compaq PC. The aol page and general pages of the computer are okay but when I try to log on to yahoo, some of the home page fonts like the 'sign in' words and details of news are too little to read.

There are many monitors made that have high resolution, but there are so few stand-alone tv tuners to make them into high definition tvs. Is this deliberate so we will pay a fortune for the High defintion tvs. Converting a monitor to HD is much cheaper. But the HD tuners are so expensive- higher than the monitors themselves. There are many ad-on conversion cards for the computer for tv but I don't want to run the computer every time I want to watch tv. Is there a low cost high definition stand-alone tv tuner? Let me know.

I think PenDrives are limited to a certain number of insert / retrieval. I lost my first pen drive of 64mb about a 6 months of use. I lost my next pen dive 128 mb about a year of use.

What happened is that I inserted the pen drive at a local machine and then it went kapoot, shut off and no one to repair or explain. The unit went down, and there was no more blinking light.

So I´m just about curious about what you think? After how many input/retrieval would a pen drive stop to work?

I have seen that half of the writable CD/DVD's on sale at Wal-Mart and other places have gone to the "printable" type. Are you required to purchase a new printer specially made for CD's? If so, where do you purchase that at? I wander around the electronics section of these same department stores all the time and never see any type of printer for CD's. Someone please give me some insight to these new CD's!

I have a 1000 kVA UPS (I assume it's a standby UPS), described on the case as a Proline. In the specifications, the transfer time is given as 8ms typical, 10ms max, including detection and transfer (but I have no way of testing this).

Thanks to the previous replies to my query about this UPS, it seems as if the UPS is either faulty or is just an inferior product. In any event, I'm still reluctant to run my PC on it. I'm therefore still only using it for a 60W reading lamp. (The lamp flicks off and on briefly when there's a power failure).

Is it possible to tell how the current is distributed between the lamp and the UPS battery? In other words, if I keep only this lamp on all the time while the UPS is plugged into the mains, is the UPS battery charging up or will it eventually run down? Or isn't it that simple?
