need help with my sony laptop?

Question

i dropped my sony vaio vgn laptop this morning and now when i press the power button the lights come on but nothing else happens
i cant hear the fan or hdd start up or anything and the screen stays blank
i have no pc repair shops nearby does anyone have any ideas on what this might be or if i need to replace anything to sort out my problem

i have chenged the hdd to the old 40gb but it doesnt seem to be powering up nothing works apart from the lights is this a problem with the mother board

If your HDD works, you're lucky because usually HDD's are most prone to break when you drop them.
But, anything else could be broken, anything from the processor, the memory modules, or the whole motherboard for that matter. You can't really fix a broken piece of computer hardware: you'll have to replace the component.

i would take the access panel off the bottom and check all wires,i droped my IBM one time it did the same thing, but i opened it and looked. there was a port wire that jard lose, but when are working in the access panel make sure your battery is out and not pluged up. if that dont works i would see if there is a warranty on it, if so get it fix, or call the geek squad...

try opening the access panel on the back where the ram is, and reseat the ram module. Also unplug, remove the battery, the put the battery back in, and plug it back up. anything else and you will probably have to send it to a repair shop. If it is under warranty, send it in
