This is strange but the ones I saved in my documents work fine. Does anyone know why I cannot open new docs sent to me? This is weird and I can't figure it out. I called a person at the computer store and they told me I should buy a new version of Excel because mine is from 1997. It worked a few weeks ago on new docs sent to me but it doesn't open up new files now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am considering purchasing an HP dv2500t laptop. The laptop will be used by both myself and my girlfriend. One of the options for the laptop is a fingerprint reader.

Will this fingerprint reader be useful if both of us are using it? Can it read two seperate fingers to login/access programs?

the one is an intel celeron and the other is a pentium III processor. Now, the intel celeron has ms office, and the pentium III has rubbish on it, (i've been given both these pc's mind). Is it possible, by way of cable, or other, to copy ms office onto my more modern pc? also, why does the pentium crash every so often? i've jsut freed up loads of disk space...? ps, would i need to wipe the pentium clean to load on ms office?

I was wanting to know if someone knew the web site that will tell me all my computers information.I work in a school and i would like to know of all the computers MAC address and just about every thing I could find out about my computers. I just downloaded the trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 home and student and all the features are locked. What's the use of downloading the product if all you can do is look at it? Am i doing something wrong? I thought it would be fully functionable until my 60 days were up.

My keyboard is acting up. When I push the SHIFT ket to type a capital letter, I get an extra character in front of my intended character. For example, if I type a capital letter A using the shift key, I will get something looking like a capital I in front of the letter A : IA.

what do you do when you can start up wendows? it turns on but it comes to this black screen that says start wendows normaly or safe start and so on but no matter what you click it always brings up the blue screen. how do i get around this or fix it ?

I CAN'T hear system alerts and sounds via internet connection.

I CAN hear Audio CD's, mp3's payed through WMP and any games that I instaled (Diablo etc).

I have done:
1) Uninstall and reinstall drivers
2) Upgraded drivers
3) Did a Windows Repair
4) Checked all volume settings
5) All speakers work because I can play Audio, just can't hear system sounds

I have a RealTek 97' sound card with Windows XP system, running Kaspersky Virus 7 and a hardware firewall.

I have checked the newsgroups, and all services attempting to find a solution and nothing has worked. ANY other suggestions would be great before I break down and c:format again...

I am looking for a program that can compile or wrap a PHP/HTML web pages into a standalone executable file for windows (.exe). It should be able to put the entire website into one .exe file for simple distribution. I once found a program that did just this, however I cannot find it again.

I would prefer this software to be free / open source but I really need this so I am willing to buy the softwware if it is fairly cheap (under at about $100).

Problem :I need to unstick my laptop's power button.

More info: I have completely worn of the hp logo on the power button. I can see a blue light that is directly in the center (underneath the bower button of course) Also, I see this small, round, whitish, looking pad of to the right. Can I simple pop up the button and put the round circle thingy on top of the blue light?

I have a brand new laptop with one of those friggin divided drives ( done for safety, blah blah). It runs vista, which I like fine. The drives are labled OS and Data. The problem is with the OS. When I got the unit that drive was nearly full already. I tried to install all programs that didn't come with the computer on the data drive but you still need a certain amount of space to operate the computer. I deleted some unneeded programs like Roxio disc creator which took up a lot of space and deleted and reinstalled some programs to the other drive. This seemed to help a bit. The thing is if i do the littlest thing, like install desktop weather ( which incidentally will not run properly) the free memoryt is just sucked up. Its not a big file at all. The space available went from 700mb to 32mb! WTF! Do you tink its Vista causing te trouble? Should I look into getting vista replaced wit Xp? Help!!!
