the one is an intel celeron and the other is a pentium III processor. Now, the intel celeron has ms office, and the pentium III has rubbish on it, (i've been given both these pc's mind). Is it possible, by way of cable, or other, to copy ms office onto my more modern pc? also, why does the pentium crash every so often? i've jsut freed up loads of disk space...? ps, would i need to wipe the pentium clean to load on ms office?

First: I believe that the Celeron would actually be the more modern computer.
Now then...It might be possible to copy MS Office, but you'd need a product key to activate it. Instead of that, get OpenOffice ( http://www.openoffice.org ) if you're running Windows or Linux, or NeoOffice ( http://www.neooffice.org ) if you're using Mac OS X. These programs do everything MS Office does, but they're free!

What operating system is on each of the computers? if they are both XP you should be able to pull files (not programs) off the Pentium using a PATCH cord. You could also take the old drive out and put it into the new machine. As for the the Pentium crashing every time you try to put MS Office it may not be a fast enough computer to actually run the program. Check MS Office to see what is the requirements to run it. Try to whip out the Pentium hard drive and reinstall the Operating system then try to load Office again.

Office cannot be copied and work. you would need the Install CD and the key.
May I suggest you get OpenOffice? (openoffice.org) It's free and works with all document types.
What I would also do is to take the Pentium III hard drive out of the machine and put it into the Celeron Machine as a slave drive. Wipe it clean with Windows and you will have much more space for storage.
I would also suggest you get some Anti-Spyware programs and run them on the main hard drive. Adaware 2007, Spybot SEarch and Destroy are a couple of good ones and are free. If there is no AntiVirus on the machine, I suggest you get AVG which is also free.
(And before you think of replacing one drive to the other as the MASTER, I would not. Since you do not have the install disk, Windows would be unable to find the drivers for the new equipment it finds when in the new machine.)

hi there
you could copy microsoft office from older p.c to a modern p.c however you havent mentioned if you have the original disk,as copying the program is difficult, you cant literally move the folder containing this program via a cable to a modern p.c,as theres other factors to take into consideration such as other programs that use office
however if you have the disk or o.e.m cpy of office then you could simply reinstall it on the newer p.c
you could however move office as part of a windows transfer operation, this is a feature of windows that will move the contents of a old p.c to a new p.c,its designed for people who have purchased a new p.c so they dont lose all the dat and programs they have saved
and as microsoft office is part of the os it will be transfered with the rest of the dat on the p.c
the pentium 3 crashes probally due to a hardware problem, for example the processors fan may be blocked with dirt and the processor may be overheating, pentium 3 processors are renowned for overheating anyway so if it wasnt getting adequate ventelation then it would crash
it could also be because of malware or spyware, viruses take a while before they start messing up your p.c,a virus scan will check for any viruses
however, the pentium 3 is a legacy processor and isnt really up to the job of todays applications, and with its bad record of ventelation its best to buy a new p.c(core 2 duo or pentium D)
more info on windows transfer can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/getstarted/bott_fstw.mspx
any other problems let me know
good luck friend !

Why not take the hard drive out of the Celeron computer and replace the hard drive in the P3 with it?
That way it will run your MS Office without crashing.

well...to copy ms office from one pc to another ius not an option, but u can use trhe setup disk to install ms office on the other computer.I believe Microsoft Office allows for 20 installations.
the reson it crashes is probably OS related...Windows is not the most stable OS on the market,so after a long time of use corrupted files may ocasional;ly appear which lead to these errors.I would try using check disk software,if that does not help a fresh install of Windows will defenetl;y solve the problem.
