I wanted to put some movie files on DVD's. It's your standard DVD-R, but I'm wondering if I might have jumped the gun buying a whole package of them. My computer is an HP Pavilion 503x with a built in ATAPI CDRW 52X32 cd writer. I'm not looking to make DVD movies but just to burn them as files onto the disk. I'm wondering if my drive is able to do this, or if I may have to go out and buy a DVD writer.

recently got an old computer from my grandpa, its hard drive is running windows 98 right now. I have an old harddrive running xp. so i installed the xp hard drive and it says

windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt \system 32\hal.dll.

so i put the windows xp startup cd in and then the blue screen comes on and the setup process starts. i later press r for repair but it doesn't recognize that i have a hard drive in.

This is for the database for a movie theatre's website. The company has multiple theatres.


Problem: handling dates/show times for multiple prints of the same movie.

Current set up:
-One table for movies includes all movie specific information like rating, cast, web sites, etc. One record per movie.

-One table for dates includes the start & end date for each theatre as well as the no pass period. One record per theatre per movie.

-One table for times. Includes the auditorium number, sound format, and time. One record for each time/date set since the theatres do not run the same schedule all week. For example Fri-Sun 1:00 is one record, Fri-Sun 3:00 is a second record, Mon-Tue 3:00 is a third record.

I have got a broadband connection with orange, using a speedtouch 330 usb modem, and was wondering if I bought a wirless adapter and box, would it work, so that I can have my upstairs computer online, using the connection from downstarirs using the speedtouch modem. I just got an Epson perfectoin 2450 photo scanner and after instaling the driver which i got online, the scanner does not show up under imaging devices or in my computer and i can't scan anything. The scanner does show up in the hardware profiles and it says it is working fine. Please help

Hey guys, 2 part question.
1- I would like to know what u guys think about an I-mac vs, Windows run desktops. I saw an I-mac recently at best buy and thought the picture was amazing, though the I-mac is a bit expensive. Also I would be using my desktop mostly for Media, chatting, downloading and web surfing so hwich is better in this regard? My friend says he wouldnt buy an I-mac becuase it has trouble running all kinds of programs, is this true?. So can someone tell me the pros and cons of an I-mac vs non I-mac?

2- Also, is it better to buy a desktop from somewhere like best buy or from an Independent computer retailer which I don't know of any in Las Vegas. And how can I find a local PC retailer if it is better?

I purchased this computer from eMachines in January. The McAfee it came with expired and my husband refuses to let me renew it (I know, I know). Several times an hour I get this irritating pop up and alarm that tells me my McAfee needs to be renewed. I can't find anything that will let me turn it off. Is there something I can do to get rid of this nuisance?

Yes I know we need it but he refuses to spend money on it and I'm a stay at home mom. Reasoning with him on this is out of the question. I just want to quit seeing the pop up at this point.

I currently have a Dell Inspiron E1405 laptop pc, with Windows XP Media Center Edition Service Pack 2. Basically all I want to do is start over from the beginning, like it's a brand new, fresh-out-of-the-box computer. But, here's the thing - I don't have any of the start-up or driver discs that originally came with my computer. Now, with the research I've done thus far, I know that it's nearly impossible to do this without those discs unless buy a Windows Vista Upgrade, which right now I don't want to do. Game works on laptop, but not on desktop, other games work but when i put it in the disc tray, almost as if game isn't there?! We know that the game isn't scratched and we know that the disc drive just isn't picking it up?! Help plz?! Cheers, :S

Okay, um my school has Microsoft Word 2003 and i dont. I have something like WordPerfect. Also, i dont have a printer. Most of my school work i do on note pad, go on a school computer, organize it, then print it. But if i need to do a table, i cant. So im screwed.
