You need to buy a ROUTER and install it at home, the computer (if it has Internet wireless connected) will recognize it immediately. (Be sure you lock the signal that way no one would be able to use.....)

Check the specifications of your new laptop; it may have a wireless adapter built in. If it doesn't, you will have to buy an adapter or card which will cost between £15 and £30 ($30-$60)
You also need a wireless network router; I recommend buying a combined "modem/router" for ease of use. Try eBuyer or Aria for good prices (if you're in the UK).
edit* I'm not sure if a modem is needed for cable, you'll have to ask someone more knowledgeable than me.

You need to have a wireless receiver or card in your laptop. Most come with wireless standard now.
Then get a router for your cable and you will be good to go.

Check previous answers to this question in YA search but...
Basically a router with wireless. If your laptop doesn't have built-in wireless, also a wireless card/usb.

Talk you your cable company. They cna give (or sell) you a wireless router that hooks up to the cable. I would not advise this though, because not only are you able to use the wireless internet, so is anyone else within its range.
