I currently have two 512mb sticks of Kingston PC3200 ddr RAM in my computer. Can I add 2 more 512mb sticks if they are Samsung PC2700 ddr ram, even though the PC number is different? I do have the available slots and my motherboard can handle up to 4gb. Thanks!

Thanks!

I have 7-ZIP to convert rar files into DVD. When I downloaded a DVD film disc, I have seen many kind of files in it. What is the procedure to convert them into 700 MB rar files?

I'm having a bit of a problem with zip files that ive recently downloaded.
(Picture below) These are supposed to be a file containing individual podcasts but instead when you click on them it trys to open them all, but it doesnt work. I think what i did was changed the 'open with' programme however i cant change it back. The picture also shows what programmes come up when i try to change the 'open with programme. When i click browse a few more programmes come up but i dont think any are the ones im looking for.
I've tried deleting them all and downloading them again but that doesnt work.
Any ideas? x

The mx705 came with my system but is still in the box and I could probably resell it for close to what I paid--it was $80 as part of the package deal at Circuit City.

The Acer has a 3-year warranty and would cost $139 at a local Staples store during a current promotion.

If you want some specs:
HP 17" CRT:
Dot Pitch / Pixel Pitch 0.25 mm
Max Resolution 1280 x 1024 / 60 Hz
Max Sync Rate (V x H) 160 Hz x 70 KHz
Video Bandwidth: 110 MHz
Controls / Adjustments: Degauss, Contrast, H/V size, Rotation, H/V moire, Trapezoid, Brightness, Pincushion, Pin balance, H/V position, Parallelogram, Color temperature
Video Output: None
Signal Input: VGA
1 year warranty

Acer 19" wide-screen
Resolution 1440 x 900
Contrast ratio 800:1
Brightness 300 cd/m2
Reponse time 5ms
Dimensions 21.1"W x 16.5"H x 7.6"D
3 year warranty

I'm leaning toward keeping the Acer and re-selling the still-in-box HP. Thanks for your suggestions.

It is about 1 year old next month, runs Windows Vista, has 80GB hard drive, 768MB RAM, Intel Celeron D processor. I use the disc defragmenting program about every two weeks and use disc cleanup every 3-4 days. I don't think there are any viruses on it.i had thought about putting in even more RAM and a second hard drive and possibly even a new processor.
Can u think of anything that would make it quicker?
thanx

I created drop down lists in an excel worksheet and each drop down list contains several hundred entries. How can I search for a particular entry from thousands of entries from those drop down lists? I explored Edit> Find option, but looks like thats not the right way for this task.

I've been using the test drive on my laptop for Word and it's about to expire. I need something else that I can use to take and store notes, even just for another 30 days of test driving. My university won't get the actual Office suite that I'm wanting for a while yet, so I need anything that I can a least test drive for free for a few more weeks or so.
It needs to be something I can write notes, and preferably papers, in and save them for as long as the test drive lasts.
Anything resembling Office's Word would be welcome. If possible, a link to where I can get it or find out more would be appreciated.
Thanks!

My monitor's display went sideways all of a sudden. It is a desktop using WINDOWS XP with a wireless keyboard and mouse. Any one have any ideas as to how I get it back to 'normal'? I may have hit a key on my keyboard, but don't really know. I've tried rebooting the computer, and I've tried the monitor settings on the monitor itself, and neither worked.

I was wondering, is it possible to save the passwords you enter into your computer, and later if you forget, be able to go back and look at them? Or if you want to never forget your password for a site or program you have, is there a way to look back and see what you have typed?
