I purchased this computer from eMachines in January. The McAfee it came with expired and my husband refuses to let me renew it (I know, I know). Several times an hour I get this irritating pop up and alarm that tells me my McAfee needs to be renewed. I can't find anything that will let me turn it off. Is there something I can do to get rid of this nuisance?

Yes I know we need it but he refuses to spend money on it and I'm a stay at home mom. Reasoning with him on this is out of the question. I just want to quit seeing the pop up at this point.

Start->Setting->Control Panel->Add/Remove Software
and un-install McAfee software
There should be two or three McAfee related software. After the un-install the software, the popup will be gone!

By the way, it is always safer to have an active Anti Virus protection.

im not sure what you have as far as vista or xp or windows 7 but go to run i guess if you have xp its under start menu if you have vista go to start menu click start search type msconfig hist enter when it comes up look under tab start u items look for mcafee uncheck this and hit apply and ok you wont have to deal with it no more cuz it wont open up by itself also just to help ya out since your allready in this msconfig box you can shut off many things here that you dont want in the start up that way your computer will boot up faster also go to services to shut things down as well

It should go away after you uninstall the program, you don t need it if it s expired anyway. You should have some type of virus protection if you are going online. There are several free good programs you can find on the internet.

yes as they are suggesting, uninstall the virus suite and download free AVG. It's all the protection you need or at least you will have something to catch incomings.
