Which is better? I had never heard of firefox until today when I couldn't access a site on IE and needed FF? Is FF safe and how will not using IE affect my internet activity?

I was surfing some guitar tabs websites a few days back when norton antivirus&windows defender started to show danger signs.In panic,saw the defender say restart your computer and so I did.When the windows started again,I couldn't open anythin&a message kept on popping
'Windows explorer is not working'
Çheck the web for solution and restart the program'
or
'Restart the program'
That time as I didn't have any antispyware program&couldn't do anythin on the computer,someone told me to recover to an earlier date.So i did&it worked.The computer had started working properly again.
After that now AVG free edition,Ad-Ware,Spybot,Norton Antivirus&the Vista's Windows Defender...none of these show any sign of virus or adware/spyware.But my concern is I see some strange links n files around. Forexample there are 2 icons for www.asecurityboard.com on the desktop and found using startup manager that there is a 'launcher.exe'file set to operate on startup.
What exactly should I do now?

ok i typed up my projects but didnt finish 1 so i saved it nd today opened it. I tried to type and i got this message
"This modification is not allowed because the selection is locked"
how do i unlok this selection because i cant type or print any of my documents or do i have to retype my whole projects?

my 7 Gigabite hard disk is full, and i got another hard drive 177 Gb and i want to know how can i transfer all data to the other one and use it instead of the one that is full... like move the C:/ program files to the other hard disk, cause the one that is 7 Gb is full and looks like its downloading codecs needed and security updates and its full for that to install. Please help

I had a program before that let me soften and edit pictures, but it also let me put pre-made frames onto the pictures to help make it look better. I cannot remember what that program was called and I got a new computer and cannot find another program like that. Any help?

The following JS function receives data from a php code:

I just bought an HP at Circuit City and I have Vista Home Premium. I know it doesnt have word and stuff on it. The guy that worked there told me I couldn't install Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 that I bought for it. He said I had to use a Vista Word and Excel or something like that. I didn't see any Vista packages with Word. Was he yanking my chain so I would use them to install Word and stuff or will the Microsoft Office Home and Student I just bought work or not work on my new computer? Thanks!

I was looking at my friend's profile on MySpace and it appeared as if I had posted a Macy's gift card message as a comment on her profile. I wrote her another comment explaining that somebody might have gotten into my account and posted it. I don't know how it happened, no one knows my password, but just in case, I changed my password. I then realized that the same comment was on all of my friend's profiles! Also, some stupid bulletin was posted that I didn't post, so I quickly deleted it. Has this happened to anyone else? How did it happen? What can I do to prevent it?

I'm using an Nvida 7300SE with RCA composite out, and when I connect using an RCA=>Scart adaptor (which I know works), I get no picture. It's over a 10 metre cable, and I'm trying to run a monitor over the SVGA connection at the same time. Changing the monitor settings doesn't help. Any ideas out there? Thanks!

I should be able to handle a total of 512 megs of ram but it won't let me install both 256 ram sticks. I tested all of the sticks. My system will run with any of the 256 sticks by themselves so I know they both are good. The system will let me run one 256 stick with one 128 stick with no problems.
Here is the error message paraphrased so I don't write a novel: "a problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this message appears again, the bios in this system is not fully ACPI compliant. Please get an updated bios."
If you need to know, my computer is an HP Pavilion xt953. I don't know much about bios so please be patient in your explanation. thanks
