Okay,I know I'm still a noob and I may be exaggerating a little bit,but I just mistakenly killed the explorer.exe process on my computer(it runs XP) and ran it again; and the results were quite frankly the same as when I reboot.Like my Norton virus program restart and everything goes fast all of a sudden.

i was downloading this "transformers game demo" but then i cancel it because it was going to take like 4 hourse but then i realize seeing this thing on my desktop which looks like a white box with a blue bar on top of it and 3 dots on the right side of the blue bar (some sort of icon), and it doesnt go away even if i try to delete it, it says it is bieng used by another person or program and that i have to close all windows, and i do that but t still doesnt get deleted, i try to download it again but the same thing happens so now i have 2 of those things. i dont understand why wont it get deleted when it's not being used by anyone or anything. (btw: i used mozilla firefox and this didnt happen to me before when i was using Internet explorer. thanks.

Open Control Panel >>> Folder Options, View tag , clear check box "Hide extensions for known file types", click OK.

its the one on the inside of the tower not the one blowing out the back.i sprayed wd40 on it twice to get it going,but it needs replacing.when its not working the moniter wont come on.

I use Yahoo mail. On the folder where all the spam goes to, Yahoo "bulk," I look at all the titles to see if there is any actual e-mails that went the "wrong-way" that I should answer.

Of course titles like "18&hot" are definitely!! spam! And probably worse, so I do not bother with them.

And then there are the ones that have all the crazy symbols that I do not see on my keyboard (what keyboard are THEY using?).

But LAST NIGHT one of the titles had, on both sides of the words; little fireworks! I thought that was really neat. Anyone wonder how they did that? I do...

Too bad I could not ask them how. That would trigger all kinds of spam e-mails.

How do I get my master volume back on my computer?
It's a long story on how I lost it. My cousin erased everything from my computer and so the master volume deleted with everything too. Now I would like to know where to get it for free without it harming my computer. I checked my speakers and everything is connected right. to start, i changed the password on my computer and the new one was not required until afteri restarting my machine. whe ni went to type in what i thought was the new password, it wouldn't work. in conclusion i forgot my password to log into windows on my computer.
okay, so i reinstalled windows and my copmuter is fine, except i'm not sure how to find all of my old data [files, pictures folders, programs, music ETC.] i'm at a MAJOR loss and i really need help. i'm pretty sure that my old 'stuff' was not overwritten, if anyone has ANY IDEA on how to help PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me. On an a different computer, I have CA security center. The firewall, spy ware blocker and virus blocker are all enabled. We have firefox, internet explorer, and windows vista.

Around two months ago, we switched from a free trial to the free CA, but the internet on the computer is basically unusable. Videos won't load most of the time, pictures only load half the time, headings are messed up, and the pages take around 3 minutes or longer to load. The computer also randomly crashes, something it didn't do before.

My father, who rarely uses the computer's internet downloaded it and refuses switch to a new one. He says I don't know what I'm talking about (which I understand I don't). He's a computer engineer so whenever I mention it he says that he's fiddling with it. Its been two months and nothing has changed.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? I won't be able to do anything about it because after I mentioned it he forbid me to touch it, but I'm curious.

ok so i installed ubuntu on a flash drive, it made this dual boot menu, but it made it in my computer, so now if i try and boot without the flash drive my computer wont, so i would like to remove it from my computer and make it so when my flash drive isnt in it boots straight to windows, and when it is theres a boot menu(a windows one if possible).

I have had 2 mother boards cook in 24 hours and the only common link between the 2 computers is the hard drive. If the virus is in the hard drive when it was taken out of the computer and put in the second one could it do the same damage? Both computers are the same make, model, and year. When the first one"quit" (would not even power up at all), we took the hard drive out and put into another computer. It worked for 24 hours then the same thing happened. Push the button and nothing..no power going thropugh it all. The chip on the mother board of both computers is melted. We did some trouble shooting as far as the power cords,outlets, and things of that nature and all is in working order. The only thing anyone can think of is the hard drive ha a virus. HELP ME Please!!!

I have a 'Packar Bell Versa E400' Laptop.
It turns on , reaches the windows logo screen and then suddenly restarts..no error nothing.
tried booting in safe mode..still same problem
tried booting from an XP installation CD.....dosent load the cd up..

1.8 GHz
480 Mb of RAM (Another question I have.. Why 480 Mb of RAM when I have a 512 Mb stick?)
